Subject: Lyr Req: Meeting In The Air From: Stephen L. Rich Date: 21 Aug 06 - 12:07 AM Does anyone have the Lyrics to this old Gospel song? It's Called "Meeting In The Air" or "In That Meeting In The Air". The Chorus is: There's going to be a meeting in the air In that sweet, sweet by and by. I'm going to meet you, meet you over there In that home beyond the sky. So, Sing and you shall hear Never heard by mortal ear, It will be glorious I do declare. And God's own Son will be the leading one In That meeting in the air. The first verse starts out with something about "little Moses in the bullrush" and progresses from the about Old Testament figures. Does anyone know this one? Stephen Lee |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Meeting In The Air From: Peace Date: 21 Aug 06 - 12:16 AM LITTLE MOSES You've heard of Little Moses in the bull rush You've heard of sinless David and it's claim You've heard the story told of Rehum and Joseph And of Jonah and the whale we often claim There are so many others through the Bible I'd like to meet them all I do declare By and by the Lord will surely let us meet them At that meeting in the air. Chorus: There's going to be a meeting in the air In the sweet sweet by and by I'm going to meet, to meet them over there In that home beyond the sky The things you will hear never heard from mortal ear Will be Glory I do declare And God's only Son will be the only one At the meeting in the air. Many things will there be missing at the meeting Them that know no Saints will have no place at all There'll never be a sermon preached a sinner For the sinners have refused to heed the call There'll be no moaning over wayward loved ones There'll be no lonely nights no pleading prayers All our burdens and sins will be lifted At that meeting in the air. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Meeting In The Air From: Dan Schatz Date: 21 Aug 06 - 12:17 AM Helen Schneyer recorded this on her second Folk Legacy Album, On the Hallelujah Line. At least some of the lyrics are posted in a previous thread, here. It's a wonderful song, and nobody sings it like Helen did. If you buy the album, you won't regret it. Dan Schatz |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Meeting In The Air From: GUEST,Bubba Date: 22 Aug 06 - 12:11 AM This song is a staple in every pentecostal church service I have been in for the last 60 years. There is one verse missing. 3. There the doubters will be missing altogether All the skeptics will be absent on that day There will be no grumblers present to disburb us And the Achans will be busy far away There the saints will have His seal upon their foreheads Dressed in raiment none but the ransomed ones can wear All who have the wedding garments will be present At that meeting in the air. Chorus Theh song is copyright 1925 by Mae Taylor Roberts |

Where is yours from? Can you send us a MIDI for posting, or a scan of the sheet music? Thanks. -Joe Offer- joe@mudcat.org Here's a summary version, for submission to the Digital Tradition. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Meeting In The Air From: GUEST,Dale Date: 22 Aug 06 - 05:10 AM Stewie is right. Other than a local group probably unheard outside of North Arkansas, in my opinion there is no better version than that of Jim Watson, Tommy Thompson and Mike Craver of the Red Clay Ramblers. A generous two minute sample can be heard at CD Baby. The entire album is worth having. I just transferred my vinyl to CD a couple of months ago. It is one of those albums that periodically gets dusted off and played again and again. It never gets old for me. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/redclayramblers As to the Achans, I have to confess to having sluffed over that one so much that it had no meaning at all to me. Draw your own conclusions here and other places around the net. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achan |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Meeting In The Air From: Ron Davies Date: 22 Aug 06 - 11:00 PM I'd also like to put in a plug for the Red Clay Ramblers' Carter Family tribute album titled "Meeting in the Air". Just wonderful--it was the first time I heard such seldom-heard gems as "The Winding Stream", "While the Band is Playing Dixie" and many others--and the arrangements are solidly in the tradition. |
