Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 20 Jan 07 - 08:49 PM This thread is as stale as green Wonder Bread, but I couldn't figure any other way to go about this. Four or five days ago, I received an e-mail from a Catter in England enquiring about buying this CD, and through clerical error (cleric aren't what they used to be) I've lost the e-mail. I hate to appear boorish by not responding, so I thought I'd throw this one back into circulation in hopes that whoever it was who asked about this CD would send me a PM. I need your address, so I can send you a copy.. Somewhat chargined |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 28 Aug 06 - 05:49 PM Nah, I don't, Wee Little. But I sent a shipment of CDs to Folk Legacy today, and you crossponders can order one from there for the same price, and charge it. You can probably leave a PM on the Cat for Sandy Paton and get more details. Jerry |

Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 27 Aug 06 - 07:37 PM Hi Jerry, The CD arrived yesterday and I played a cut on my show today. You really did a nice job! I played "Screen Porch Door" and followed it up with a lovely version of "Grandfather's Clock" for a local group called Triple Play. It really set a nice mood! Thanks for sending me this advance copy. I'm looking forward to sharing more cuts and listening to this over and over again. I urge all Mudcatters to check this CD out!!! Sit back and enjoy a visit with a good friend! Great songs and performances! Ron |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 27 Aug 06 - 02:30 PM Thanks, Dick: e-mail or PM when you get back and I'd be glad to send you a few copies to have for the Getaway, or whenever. The CD has two tracks on it with Luke Faust and me. I'll burn a copy of a CD of old stuff that Luke and I did together and send it along when I send Back When I Was Young to you.. Jerry |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: dick greenhaus Date: 26 Aug 06 - 03:37 PM CAMSCO will be most pleased to carry them. And we'll be at the Getaway. Jerry, I'll contact you when we return from the UK. |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 26 Aug 06 - 03:09 PM Hmm: My post got lost in the ether: Wolfie: Folk Legacy will be carrying Back When I Was Young, and you can charge your purchase through them. I'm selling them for $10 plus S & H. Art: Neither I nor Folk Legacy will be at the Getaway, as we both were previously committed to NOMAD. Unless Dick Greenhaus wants to carry a few copies, they won't be available there. People can always order them directly from me, through a PM. I think I may have posted this response on the Sitting At The Kitchen Table thread, which would make next to no sense, there.. That's what I get for running faster than my head. Jerry |

Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 24 Aug 06 - 10:30 AM I'm mailing off promotional copies of this CD to Ron Olesko and Jim Hickam, fellow Catters who have radio programs. It's been awhile since I've updated my list of radio stations that play folk. Any other names and addresses, or places you can steer me for them would be appreciated... I'll have my Handful Of Songs CD ready in another two or three weeks and will want to get that out, too.. Jerry |

Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: alanabit Date: 22 Aug 06 - 07:43 AM This is good news. I listen to your songs on tape in the car. Thomas Kärner, the Alan's Abits guitarist, recognised one of the blues songs, which had been covered - by the Holy Modal Rounders, I think. You will be hearing from me when I get back from the UK next week Jerry. |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 22 Aug 06 - 06:28 AM That would be good, Stephen. Or, Still Jerry After All These Years would work. The songs and recordings do cover a long span of time. I wrote Winter To Spring in 1964, and the two recordings with Luke Faust go back to the early 60's. Hard to believe that that was 40 yers ago because it is so fresh in my mind. Drunkard's Last was written when I was hanging out at the Gaslight Cafe in Greenwich Village in 1962 or '63, and When I Get To Glory, in 200 1 or 2. Robert's Rooster was my most requested song for so many years that I finally got sick of singing it. Now, it's kinda fun to pull it off the shelf. I also play slide guitar on one track, mandola of a couple... no tracks where I play fiddle though, much to my disbelief, I used to play and perform, playing fiddle. Jerry |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Stephen L. Rich Date: 22 Aug 06 - 01:43 AM Since the songs seem to be from various parts of your career (almost like an unreleased retrospective) why not call it "The Road So Far"? Stephen Lee |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: bbc Date: 21 Aug 06 - 11:12 PM Goodie! I've heard Susan's version, but I'd love to have your own. See ya at NOMAD. love, Barbara |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 21 Aug 06 - 08:37 PM Yes, Barbara, Screen Porch Door is on it... Susan Trump recorded it after hearing it on a tape of the song that is now on the CD. I will have them for sale at NOMAD, too... along with Handful Of Songs, on CD. Jerry |
Subject: RE: New Jerry Rasmussen CD: Back When I Was Young From: bbc Date: 21 Aug 06 - 08:33 PM Is "Screen Porch Door" on it? I'd love to hear you sing that. love, Barbara |
Subject: New Jerry Rasmussen CD From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 21 Aug 06 - 07:20 PM I've just finished a new CD of old songs titled Back When I Was Young. Thre are a couple of tracks of studio produced songs: Levi Kelly (a song from an old broadsheet about a hanging) and Jerusalem Slim (The Hobo's moniker for Jesus) three children's songs that I wrote many years ago when my sons were little, including Robert's Rooster, a couple of old recordings done in my Greenwich Village days with Luke Faust: Hopalong Peter and Blues In The Bottle, and a couple of songs that friends have performed and recorded that I never released on an album. 14 songs, in all. I was thinking I might call this a Basement Tape album, which makes it sound very underground (basements by definition being underground) or field recordings (which makes it sound very authentic.) All but two of the songs are original. If you have any interest, you can PM me for more information.. Jerry |
