Subject: Doc Rowe on BBC Radio4 Archive Hour Sat From: 8_Pints Date: 23 Aug 06 - 06:53 AM Doc Rowe who has been collecting film, photos and recordings of British traditions for many years is the subject of the Archive Hour on BBC Radio 4 on Saturday 26th August at 8pm. He is a very interesting and amusing man and I'm sure the programme will be worth hearing. He has done presentations of some of his material at the National Festival under the title "As I stumbled out.." which was brilliant! We are not going to be around on Sat so we will use the "Listen again" feature on the web and catch it next week. It should be there for 7 days after transmission. Happy listening 8_Pints and Sue vG |

Subject: RE: Doc Rowe on BBC Radio4 Archive Hour Sat From: Herga Kitty Date: 26 Aug 06 - 04:10 PM I've just listened to the programme and thoroughly enjoyed it - it's wonderful stuff. I just wish it had been on TV not just radio, so we could have seen as well as heard! Kitty |
Subject: RE: Doc Rowe on BBC Radio4 Archive Hour Sat From: shepherdlass Date: 27 Aug 06 - 05:22 AM Kitty, you're so right. This was an inspirational programme and deserved the widest audience possible. TV would also have highlighted the wonderful strangeness of the events Doc has photographed and filmed. Why is it, though, that our national treasures have to struggle for cash to keep their projects afloat? Isn't this supposedly why the Lottery was set up? |

Subject: RE: Doc Rowe on BBC Radio4 Archive Hour Sat From: 8_Pints Date: 18 Sep 06 - 08:36 AM Sue would like to know if the 'archive hour' articles are accessible beyond the 7 days that most normal programmes are available? The entry is still shown on the web-site but there appears to be no way of activating the download. Bob vG |
