Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: jacqui.c Date: 05 Sep 06 - 10:38 AM So sorry to hear the news. I only met Frank the once but liked him a lot. Glad the funeral was so fitting. |
Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: MBSLynne Date: 05 Sep 06 - 10:36 AM I discovered at the funeral, that his Mudcat name "Eagle Wing" came from his religion and it was nice that, all through the service, the pastor kept talking about him flying on Eagles wings. It was good that we got to sing a folkie chorus. Just a pity that there were only a handful of us doing so. Bye Frank Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: MuddleC Date: 05 Sep 06 - 09:35 AM Just returned from the funeral, several 'folkies'were there besides a large family turnout. Besides the normal hymns at the Baptist church, the nicest touch was, in my view, a lone guitarist playing a favorite tune of his , 'The Galway Shawl', and we joined in with the chorus, ... felt a bit like being down at the pub on a folk club night, I think he would have liked that as a send-off, even though there was no liquid refreshment other than tea.! As they say in the parrot sketch, he's climbed the curtains for the last time, cheers Frank |

Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: GUEST Date: 29 Aug 06 - 04:55 AM Very sad news. Frank was a warm, friendly and kind man. I had been looking forward to visiting the Scrag folk club or Quarter Sessions again at some point to catch up with everyone, having recently left the area, and it saddens me that Frank will not be there when I do. |
Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: MuddleC Date: 28 Aug 06 - 08:22 PM I had only known Frank for just under two years, but never found him to be anything other than friendly and humerous, always quick to smile. His singing, whistle and guitar always made the sessions at the Scrag, Turks Head and at Noel's happenings go with real meaning. All those venues will be that much poorer for his passing, a real shame. I hope you are reunited in some higher plane, and continue to make tuneful noises... Here on the crust of this molten blob they call the earth, we will try to continue the music that you enjoyed so much We'll raise a glass to you..... don't be shy about joining in! |
Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: MBSLynne Date: 28 Aug 06 - 04:19 AM Very sad news. Our Quarter sessions and the Scrag End folk club will be the poorer for his loss. He was a lovely gentle man Love Lynne |

Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: katlaughing Date: 27 Aug 06 - 10:51 PM I think I missed out on most of Frank's postings, 2005 having been a rather tumultuous year for me. It is still sad to hear of his passing and so young, too. Jeri, thanks, very much, for posting the link. I love his style of writing and his photographs and 3D graphics are beautiful. I hope his site will stay up as I'd like to pursue it more. I regret that I didn't know about it until he was gone, so cannot tell him how impressed I am by it. Rest in Peace, kat |
Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: rhyzla Date: 27 Aug 06 - 09:14 PM I met Frank just a couple of times last year, and he seemed a really nice guy. So sad to hear of his passing. Thanks to Joe and Jeri above for highlighting Frank's online communication. Regards Barry Hunt |
Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: Jeri Date: 27 Aug 06 - 07:28 PM I never communicated with him directly, but I note that we agreed on a few things. My condolences to those who loved him. I've just managed to find The Eagle Wing pages. |
Subject: RE: Obit: EagleWing - August 2006 From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 27 Aug 06 - 07:21 PM From Frank: "Lizzie and I can yell at each other without becoming enemies." Oh...and didn't we yell Frank! Round and around we went, up and down, back and forth...but you did make me smile and chuckle! And you know something...you got away from me without ever having that hug...but don't you worry...one day I'll be up there too...and then...then I'll find you and give you a great big (((xxx))) and there'll be no where for you to hide! ;0) You have a lovely rest....and next year at Sidmouth Folk Week, I shall think of you and smile again......
