For more years than I care to remember I have been using Dr. Thomastik-infeld Super Flexible strings. Would be interested in knowing thoughts and preferences for strings from other fiddlers.

I will pass this enquiry on to her indoors. I recall being sent to shops for Dr Thomastic something-or-others, but I cant rememeber what. We'll get back to you.

Too much depends on the instruments preference and what YOU want it to sound like.

I just changed from Infield Reds to Pirastro Obligatos and was quite amazed at the difference. The Obligatos were so much better (more mellow) for my fiddle (which tends to be on the bright side). But that's just my preference for my fiddle. Others might well be different.

Cheers, S. in Seattle

I currently use Thomastik Spirocore which are steel strings. I use steel because I play Old Time fiddle and have to retune the fiddle for playing in different keys - I believe Thomastik Dominants take a long time to adjust to being retuned, whereas the steels just get there straight away. I also like how they sound. I have friends who use Prims which are cheaper, and they sound fine too, so I may try them in the future.
