Subject: Mountain Laurel From: Sisginers@aol.com Date: 03 Mar 99 - 01:48 AM Hi, Have you ever heard of a song called "Moutain Laurel"? It has something about twining mountain laurel through a girl's hair. I would appreciate it, if you know the lyrics, could you please send them to me? At my e-mail would be the best way as I don't know if I will ever find my way back here. Thanks in advance. Sisginers@aol.com Regina |

Subject: RE: Mountain Laurel From: Ferrara Date: 04 Mar 99 - 08:51 AM Johnathon Eberhart wrote a song called "Laurel," with the chorus, "Leaves and branches / Weaving like a loom / So begins my springtime / When I see my Laurel bloom." It's on his album, "Life's Trolley Ride," probably available from Camsco. |

For those of you who still play "vinyl LPs," it's also still available as one of those, and ON SALE! See our web site for more information. Folk-Legacy Sandy |
Subject: RE: Mountain Laurel From: lohouse8 Date: 04 Mar 99 - 09:03 PM Could this be it? Like the mountain laurel in the grove dear, My love dear, is evergreen. Like the mountain laurel finds the grove dear, I'll find you again. Where the mountain breezes blow There's a place I long to go, You'll be waiting there for me I know, And we'll climb into the hills Where once we wandered by, And your heart was gay and so was mine, And we'll find the love we left behind, Long ago, long ago. If not, it's a great song anyway, and a beautiful duet. |

Subject: RE: Mountain Laurel From: Sandy Paton Date: 09 Mar 99 - 01:11 PM Sorry, that's a different "Laurel" song. I can't help steer you toward that one, but I'm confident that other 'Cats can. (Is that a musical catscan?) For anyone interested in Jonathan Eberhart's song, it's on his solo Folk-Legacy recording: Life's Trolley Ride which can be located via our "browse" (index) facility. But bear in mind, it's not the song in question here. Sandy |

Subject: Lyr Add: MOUNTAIN LAUREL (Chilton Price) From: Jim Dixon Date: 23 Jul 13 - 11:48 PM There are several songs called MOUNTAIN LAUREL. Here's one of them: MOUNTAIN LAUREL written by Chilton Price, ©1952. as recorded by Vaughn Monroe Like the mountain laurel in the grove, dear, My love dear is ever green. Like the mountain laurel finds the grove, dear, I'll find you again. Where the mountain breezes blow, There's a place I long to go. You'll be waiting there, I know, In the pines, and we'll climb Into the hills we knew in days gone by, When your heart was gay and so was I, And we'll find the love we left behind Long ago, long ago. Like the mountain laurel in the grove, dear, My love, dear, is ever green. Like the mountain laurel finds the grove, dear, I'll find you again. Like the mountain laurel finds the grove, dear, I'll find you again. [also recorded by Grandpa Jones and Ramona] |
Subject: Lyr Add: MOUNTAIN LAUREL (Randall Hylton) From: Jim Dixon Date: 24 Jul 13 - 12:15 AM MOUNTAIN LAUREL written by Randall Hylton as recorded by The Bluegrass Cardinals on "The Essential Bluegrass Cardinals" On the banks of a cool shady river, I made love to a sweet mountain girl, And I begged her to be mine forever, And we'd travel all over the world. CHORUS: Come away (with me tomorrow) sweet mountain Laurel (for I need you). You're the flower (in my mind) in my mind (flower in my mind). Say you'll love me (love and stand beside me), mountain Laurel (never leave me) And forever be mine. But she said she could never leave the mountains, So we spoke parting words and we both cried, And my tears flowed again like a fountain When they wrote me and told me she'd died. [also recorded by David Parmley & Continental Divide on "There'll Always Be a Rocking Chair"] |
