Subject: Tech: Shaw Tin Whistle From: oggie Date: 15 Sep 06 - 04:40 PM Hi I've recently purchased a Shaw whistle in E to add to my collection. Problem is I keep running out of breath. I play assorted other whistles including a Howard low D and I find I'm only managing half the time between breaths. Is this common on Shaws or is it a fault on the whistle? any ideas on how to change it? Many thanks Oggie |

Subject: RE: Tech: Shaw Tin Whistle From: Leadfingers Date: 15 Sep 06 - 09:22 PM Hi Oggie - Shaws do tend to take a bit more blow than some - its to do with the tapered bore ! Thats why I prefer straight bore !! Adjustment of the gap EITHER end of the mouthpiece is fairly easy on a Shaw as the metal is easily moved ! AND moved back if you over do it ! Trial and error , or ask mr Shaw himself ! |
