EJ,

Thank you kindly for the nice comments. If you do get the urge to come home and catch a bit of this music, here's a link to some hotels in the Fest's region (I have heard a couple of them are sold out):

http://www.kyrenfaire.com/content/eventinfo.html

As for me, I might just find a sheltered spot in a hedge on the Fest's grounds. The weatherman claims it'll be a dry and starry night.

You can't beat Kentucky in the fall, Danny. Are the trees changing yet? I am going to try to come in the Spring, the other great season for the Bluegrass State. I want to bring my daughter, since she's only been there once when she was an infant. Anything going on in April from a festival standpoint? I think we'd prefer to miss the Derby stuff in May.

I wish I could be there, Danny.

I see that this year's festival was described on Sept 6. Then nothing appeared till Sept 18th.

If nothing is posted to a thread for 24 hours, it usually goes off the screen.

What you (and others) need to do is to post remarks to keep the thread on the Mudcat. Even if you can't go, posting something will keep the thread current and help others see the info. This increases the chances that someone who can actually go will see the announcement.

I suggest something more rational than "Sounds utterly horrible!" (See above.)

I think your festival sounds great, and I hope it is a success.

Sounds terrific, hope everybody has a marvellous time. Would certainly be one to mark down to go to in the future.

Tell us how it goes, you get too few reviews of festivals.

Good luck and enjoy yourselves.

Thanks to all for the advice and encouragement.   Apparantly, the region's musicians like the prospects for the weekend, as I have received a number messages from very fine (but little-known) players who are making their way in for the weekend strictly for "the craic".

We were pleased to learn last year that the local population were able to enjoy and embrace the Irish Trad music. You would think that the indigenous string music from the region gave the Kentucky folk a sort of easy access to the textures and tempos of Irish Trad.   We're hoping that we get an exponential word-of-mouth lift from last year's attendees.

A note to buskers - the Fest's site is quite expansive and there's loads of shaded nooks and crannies to shout out yer best stuff with an open hat at your feet.   Yer welcome here but please don't eat the daisies...

Lonesome EJ the smaller trees are getting some yellow on the outer edges of the trees down my way. I am south west of the festival. Today is rainy but a beautiful day it is currently 68 degrees according to the weather channel. I hope I can make it to the festival. I think that is the same weekend as the International thumbpicking and fingerstyle guitar weekend in Central City Ky. If it is I won't be able to come but if it isn't I am going to try to run up. Thank you for posting I haven't heard anything about it before this. Have ya'll advertised in the Western region any? If you have I must ahve missed it.

Hey Jayto,

I love the music of yours that I heard on your Myspace. (I was cookieless when I first saw it posted.)

I'm afraid that Thumbpickin' Fest that you mention falls on the same weekend. I reckon that you'll be among yours and I'll be among mine. However, I'm not sure that your Center City gathering runs thru Sunday --- it looks to me like the Sunday program is limited to some guy named Pennington doing goat roping. (I wonder what we'd need to do to get a goat roper involved in our little off-beat Festival?   We're too wooded to run sheep and collies.) At any rate, we'll leave a light on for ya...

Oh, by the way, among the young players at Eminence will be a very fine young singer by the name of Brian Hart

I do not know Brian, but he's in our region and he seems to be singing his material with grace and quality. When he contacted me I was happy to provide provide some slots on the 'Ballad Stage'.   It sounds like he's listened to Buell Kazee - ought to be well-received by the Eastern Mountain crowd that travels in...

I may be able to come up Sunday. Eddie is not having his Goat Roping this year. A Goat Roping is an old term for a gathering of musicians. That is what Eddie told me when he had the frist one years ago. Alot of people are confused about the name. I would have been confused as well if Eddie hadn't told. Man I wish they weren't grouped on the same weekend beacause I would really like to make it. Maybe Sunday though. If I can see that I am going to make it up I will let you know. I am glad you liked my playing.

'Goat roping'....   that is hilarious!!! We musicians don't all smell that bad, do we?

Ah man, ahm gonna steal that one....   'goat roping'... great stuff!!

Shades of 'The Drumnakilly Divil'...

There's a fellow from coming to our Festival from Coalisland (NornIron). He taught me a recitation about a bridal gift goat...   we'll recite it for ya if ya take the trip up the Green River Pkwy.   We're just beyond Louavul.

Please bring the guitar.

excellent water-related facilities. Anyone interested in the camping option (we have had several requests to date), please make arrangements with us (via PM here) in advance.... or, just show up with yer bundle and commence ta singin'.   We do request that you keep snoring to a minimum as it alarms the wildlife.

Splendid weather is forecast to reach thru this Festival's weekend.   For those with an interest, I should note that we plan to feature young talents who have taken to the custom crafting of their respective instruments:

Tim Benson - Uilleann Pipes

Jeff Thomas - Concertina

Each are lovely players in their own right...   over and out, Danny
