Looking at the kid Mudcatteers thread , i saw the question on 'limnrjacks' - I imagine this has been picked up on before , but Ii cant be bothered doing a search so here goes !
In UK , these are known as Jig Dolls , and have been used as accompaniment for singers and musicians in the tradition since at least THEN , if not before !
