We're going to be there for a week. Would be nice to find some music (as long as it doesn't interefere with the beer supping)
Anybody been to the folk night at the Twa Dogs? Or know of any other foly type music that occurs there?

thanks

Not been to the Twa dogs but had the pleasure to meet the two guys who are the resident band there.
They are really nice guys and play a real mixture of stuff from unacompanied trad stuff to modern(ish) country style.
Even if no one else is there y0ou will find them to be great company and very welcoming.
We met them at the music event at Staithes this year.
If you go tell em I have been practicing me bodrhan in case they ever ask me to join in again.
Have agreat time Mrs Annie wish I were going.

Twa Dogs is every other Sunday afternoon. Tuesday night there may be a folk night in the Skiddaw House Hotel, if it has not finished for the season. We were there a couple of weeks ago. If you go mention you are performers. Check Folk in the barn website for things around the area, or email terryh@collsarms.freeserve.co.uk
Enjoy

We are going this Saturday. Sadly we are not performers, just enjoy the music.
Thanks for all the advice.

Plenty of musicians in Grasmere this Saturday, just over the hill, at the Story Telling festival. Not sure about Keswick itself, I'll make some enquiries.

We visit Keswick every Whit (18 years man, woman and boy) The town is just a great place to be. Great walks, great pubs, nice people but rarely any folk. Caught a Summer Club at the back of the Queend Head once and lots of "pub rock" which is good fun but no old tunes and songs.

Thanks greg, are you the 'Boat Band' greg? Just been reading about 'Trip to the Lakes' and I think I'll try and find it.

I'll look up the story telling festival, that sounds interesting, we could maybe stop there on our way through.

Les, we've been going to Keswick every year since about '94, just the time of year varies. I agree about the 'rarely any folk'.

Anne

Trip to the Lakes is a great collection of music.

Any plans for a tune book of the album Geg?

Sorry Greg,

I know I will be punished by the spelling monitor, Greg not Geg

Les: re your tunebook enquiry. I am shortly going to put the tunes, and some information about them, on the internet. Probably in the form of an article on the Musical Traditions magazine website, with links from the Harbourtown Records website. Or vice versa.

Sorry to miss the Boat Band in Grasmere last Saturday. It was just too awkward. So near and yet so far....

Keswick has an amazing Beer Festival first weekend in June. Could this be a chance for some old music? They also have tribute bands who are great fun so it might need to be half way up Skidaw!

What I like about Keswick is the fact that there is a bookshop there, called Bookends, which has the intelligence and taste to sell Boat Band records as well as books.

Oh Greg, why didn't you tell me that before I went. I would've bought it, but I didn't know anywhere in Keswick that sells records.
