Subject: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 29 Sep 06 - 01:10 PM Slightly off the wall, but, it should be worth listening to Andy Kershaw's BBC Radio 3 prog on Sunday night. It features a session from the incomparable "Listen With Sarah". Humour and Techno combined, but IMHO definitely Folk Music. Give it a try. Regards Ralphie |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: Liz the Squeak Date: 30 Sep 06 - 01:04 AM Ralphie my dear, how are you? Sorry, but as a person of a certain age, I still can't get it into my head that Andy Kershaw is on Radio 3.... LTS |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: The Borchester Echo Date: 30 Sep 06 - 03:45 AM Anyone with MySpace friends as diverse as Alan Titchmarsh and Benjamin Zephaniah has to be worth listening to, though I await the prospect of morphing William Burroughs and Mozart with some trepidation. Kershaw Sarah |

Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: treewind Date: 01 Oct 06 - 03:46 AM Liz, Kershaw's been on Radio 3 for aeons now, the only BBC radio station any sensible folkie should be listening to. Mind you, looking at the MySpace info on Listen with Sarah, I'm not sure there's much room for concepts like "sensible". This could be an interesting listening challenge... Anahata |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 01 Oct 06 - 03:58 AM Hi Anahata!! Interesting listening challenge.....Good choice of words! Have spoken to Sarah a few times, and can see a possibility of merging Trad music with her sequencing skills...Mulling it over as I type! See you soon mate R |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: GUEST,Jim Knowledge Date: 01 Oct 06 - 01:00 PM I `ad that Ralphie in my cab once. I was driving `im `ome from Elsie`s in Kent. Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 02 Oct 06 - 04:00 AM Jim.....??? Well I listened last night. Very Silly, particularly enjoyed the Trumpton track! Will be on the BBC Replayer for the next week. Ralphie |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: The Borchester Echo Date: 02 Oct 06 - 06:52 AM Playlist up now with replayer link. There's also a very amusing Dylan/Muddy Waters/Hambone Willie Newbern sequence of Rollin' & Tumblin' which Dylan seems to have written retrospectively. What with a track from Bagus Degoi's Party Like It's 1399 and Sarah Nelson's Tempus Trumpus, there seems to be some sort of a theme developing. |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: English Jon Date: 02 Oct 06 - 06:52 AM Fantastic stuff - and there was a track from Bagas Degol too! Cheers, Jon |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: The Borchester Echo Date: 02 Oct 06 - 06:54 AM Snap Jon, have you still got the Wheatstone? |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: English Jon Date: 02 Oct 06 - 01:43 PM yeah. Still got it - Am in two minds whether to part with it. I wondered about buying a cheaper English and getting a Maccann Duet (Thanks to Ralphie for good advice on this one!) but I'm really struggling with deciding whether to sell it or not. You keeping well Countess? Cheers, J |
Subject: RE: Listen With Sarah BBC Radio3 Sunday From: The Borchester Echo Date: 02 Oct 06 - 01:55 PM Nah, sod the Duet, keep the Wheatstone (sorry, massive thread creep, Ralphie won't thank us for that!). |
