Subject: Dave Ruch at Hudson River Museum, NYC From: Dave Ruch Date: 03 Oct 06 - 04:33 PM Well, not quite NYC, but I couldn't fit "Yonkers" into the thread title... I'll be giving a concert next week, on Wednesday October 11, 2006 from 1:30-2:30pm at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers NY. It is free and open to the public, and it's being billed as "Songs of New York's Waterways". Lots of Erie Canal songs, maritime song and traditions from the Great Lakes, NYC seaport, the mighty Hudson and more, with plenty of choruses to sing. It'd be great to have some extra voices there! |

Subject: RE: Dave Ruch at Hudson River Museum, NYC From: Dave Ruch Date: 04 Oct 06 - 07:16 PM Well bbc, I wish you lived a little closer too! Not that they'd let you out of school in the middle of the day though. Unfortunately, no NOMAD for me this year. I'll be playing on Long Island that weekend after a Thurs night in the Catskills. Such a life! |

Subject: RE: Dave Ruch at Hudson River Museum, NYC From: Dave Ruch Date: 12 Oct 06 - 08:48 AM Well, just thought I'd report back in after the event. 'Twas a great time, with a fairly full house of mostly seniors for the museum's Seniors and The Arts series. It was great to meet Bonnie Milner (Liam's Sister-in-Law, I believe) of the Johnson Girls and Frank Woerner of the X Seamens Institute, who trekked up from Manhattan, sat in the front row and subtly straightened out my rhythm on a sea chanty. Frank also saved me, literally, on some lost lyrics during "Wings of a Goney/Gull". It was nice to meet Thomas Stern, another mudcatter, and autoharp dynamo Drew Smith came and played on a few songs with me. He can play anything, it seems, like he's been doing it all his life. |
