Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: AlanG Date: 14 Dec 06 - 06:48 AM Yes, everyone turned up except for the butties. No room at the inn, but we could have housed a couple in the stable in the outside. I kept hoping for wise men to turn up, but had to make do with Bernard. Our next do is on the 27th December when those who have survived Christmas will all be there fully refershed. |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: Bernard Date: 13 Dec 06 - 08:44 PM There was 'no room at the inn'...! Well, if anyone else had turned up, maybe we could have squeezed them in somewhere, but it were a bit cosy!! A good night woz 'ad by all! |

Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: Les in Chorlton Date: 13 Dec 06 - 04:15 AM A number of us gather together weekly or is it weakly? We play tunes and sing a bit. Some of us have been to the Snug and had a really good time. The problem is when we drink and drive we get beer all over the steering wheel and are then banned from using the car. We will sing an old song tonight, which wont be "The White Hare" and think we are drinking Taylor's Landlord. Wassail! As somebody often says |

Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: GUEST,Alan Date: 23 Oct 06 - 07:35 AM It's this Wednesday (25 October)and if we get as many there as have said they are comming 'appen we'll have to get a bigger room. I'm looking forward to the Souling Songs and any songs of the supernatural (as we are close to the eve of All Hallows - can't bring myself to call it Halloween because of the links with trick or treat). Hope to see you all there |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: Matthew Edwards Date: 22 Oct 06 - 09:01 AM Good to hear from you Malc, and looking forward to meeting again when you come over. Have you been recording any more with Waterbound since your 'High and Dry' CD? All Soul's Night [Halloween] is nearly upon us so perhaps some local Souling Songs would be welcome on Wednesday night - there are several examples given in Roy Clinging's book of Cheshire Folk Songs which I've been reading again recently. Its a good book, but sadly he omits that old favourite "Chester Song at Twilight". Matthew |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: Yvonne Date: 20 Oct 06 - 03:30 PM Hi Malcolm Glad to hear you are well and richer than ever! We have missed you this year. Looking forward to seeing you next year though. Lost your email (hopeless case). PM me with it if poss. Love to you and your Lady and bring her with you next time if possible? Love Yvonne |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: GUEST Date: 20 Oct 06 - 05:04 AM Sounds good Bernard. I'm with you on the antiseptic plastic. |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: yrlancslad Date: 19 Oct 06 - 10:30 PM Hi Yvonne,Mathew, Bernie,Ted and all at the snug. Tom and Ann too. Haven't seen you all in ages mainly because we've taken a second home in San Francisco and the expense (ow!) has put a bit of a crimp in our overseas travel. Our house in the Santa Cruz mountains is only about 50 miles from SF but I was doing so much stuff up there that the drive back at midnight over those mountain roads after a couple of jars was getting a bit dicey and hotels are outasight! So we got a place in SF as well and now we only have to stay in it a hundred nights a year for the next twenty years for it to pay off! Sure do miss you folks though and the good booze, songs and company at the Railway, and the Snug. Tarrah fer now, see thi in September ah 'ope Malcolm |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: Bernard Date: 19 Oct 06 - 09:10 PM As the slug said to the snail... 'Big Issue?!' Guest... it's a pub! The place seems popular enough, albeit in need of some redecoration (which the new tenants are working on), so draw your own conclusions... we do have a 'no smoking' policy these days. If your preference is for the plastic antiseptic pub with no character, then the Railway is not for you - but it regularly wins CAMRA awards. Did we mention the beer? |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: GUEST Date: 19 Oct 06 - 08:22 PM Is the snug as smelly and grotty as the upstairs room? |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: John J Date: 19 Oct 06 - 06:13 PM Good, 'cos it ain't on until next week! Hope your slug won. JJ Sorry, I meant snail. |
Subject: RE: Songs in the Snug, Lymm, Cheshire From: John J Date: 19 Oct 06 - 03:28 PM I hope you and Sue can make the Snug next time, it would be great to see you both again. Cheers, John PS Hullo Bernard....see you at the Railway tonight? I'm going for play in the music session. JJ |

Enjoy the Lakes and come see us in The Snug soon. Would be so good if you could join us in The Snug one night too, Ken. The Railway is one of the few pubs left around Lymm that the developers' have not transformed into a 'Tapas Bar'. So come and sample it whilst it lasts! Good beer, good company and excellent music in a decent pub--bliss. Yvonne |
