Well, well, well...

A couple months ago an advertisement came out in the local newspaper for musicans who wants to play one of a 5 concert Fall series sponsored by the local Main Street program... Seein' as I play every other venue in the area I was one of the 1st folks to ask for a date and time but...

....I never heard back from them and then saw the lineup in the paper and was wonderin' why I hadn't been booked seein' as I had heard all but the one who was booked to play last night and, well, the rest were real amatuarish so...

...I figured that the gal who runs this program, who has never once heard me perform, didn't like whatever her misconception of what "blues" music is, which alot of folks in Page County, Va. have and...

Well, sure, I felt a tad on the snubbed side but, hey...

Okay, here's where the "karma" part comes into play: Yesterday I get a rather frantic call from a guy who works with the lady who didn't book me... Apparentlt, the "folk singer from Delaware" was AWOL, no one had heard from him, he wasn't returning phone messages and...

...could I be ready to play in less than 2 hours!!!

Hmmmmmmmm?

Well, there are times in life where one get's to show a little "grace" and this, I figured was one of them so I loaded up my stuff and went down and did a 2 half hour performance to what turned out to be a very appreciative crowd... Yeah most of them hadn't heard me either and most didn't know much of anything about the "blues" but I could see a lot of feet tappin' and heads-a-bobbin' and everyone stayed to the end so...

... afterwards the lady who had snubbed me came up and was very apologitic and told me that I would be a regular in all their future concert series...

So, this mornin', life is a little gooder than usual and I'm sure a lot gooder than the "folk singer from Delaware's" who has to live with his folk-singer-self...

The End

Bobert (Sidewalk Bob)

p.s. And the best part is that I leave in a couple hours to play an hour set at the Heritage Festival with my Catter bud, Gutbucketeer..

Good for you, bobert. Doing a show with only two hours' notice shows that you are really accomplished.

I'm real glad the audience liked you.
