Subject: Folk Concert in Ottawa Tonight - Benefit
From: GUEST,Ottawa Wild Bird Rescue Centre & Friends
Date: 07 Oct 06 - 10:06 AM

Good Morning!

I want to see everyone out at the "Rare Women For Wild Birds" benefit concert this evening!

It's an evening of women singer/songwriters. There IS a downtown space for folk and storytelling music. It is tonight at Cafe Deckuf (221 Rideau St.) Doesn't happen every night. Plus the music is great and the charity keeps birds in our skies.

Ontario "Songs From The Heart" Songwriting Competition winner Ana Muira will perform her award winning song.

Pick up this weeks' Capital Xtra or Ottawa XPress for more information.

I respectfully point out that if people stay home watching "Law and Order" and building their next mountain then these events won't be available in the future. So please consider attending for a couple hours out of your busy lives to enjoy music and participate in community.

Rare Women For Wild Birds – An Evening of Acoustic Music

The Second Annual musical benefit for the Ottawa Wild Bird Rescue Centre will be held Saturday October 7, 2006 at Café Dekcuf. Doors at 8:00 pm. This benefit's bill offers music fans a chance to hear some of Ottawa's most unique, talented, gritty and otherwise outrageous women musicians under one roof, and for one night only. The genres include rock, folk, country and cabaret.

Casey Comeau, local favourite and front woman for the Centretown Wilderness Club is known for making sincere county music in the city. Award-winning songwriter Ana Miura enchants audiences with her melodic folk songs. Amanda Rheaume offers heart-felt funky acoustic rock. Former cruise ship entertainer and benefit organizer Mackenzie MacBride puts a cabaret spin on the typos her life with her Dolly Parton meets Tiny Tim novelty vocals.

Women, dudes and characters of all persuasions are invited to come out for a memorable evening. Admission is only $7.00 at the doors.

The Wild Bird Rescue Centre of Ottawa treats literally thousands of wild birds a year in the Ottawa area. The centre also answer loads of calls for
information from the general public. In addition they operate an emergency line to report wildlife emergencies. The centre relies exclusively on donations and volunteers to continue operations.

The First Annual benefit for Ottawa Wild Bird Rescue Centre was a punk rock show called "Flipping the Bird" held at Babylon in 2005. This year, the benefit show offers acoustic music that can inspire everything from toe-tapping, to tears, to laughing. The artists want to carry the audience away from the work week to a distant shore where the "Wild Turkey" flows freely and the stories of life, love and damnation are as plentiful as birds with wings.
