I expect to be in Stockton-on-Tees from the 2nd to the 7th of November and was wondering if there were any gigs happening in the area around that time .

There is a folk club every Monday at The Sun.

I just went to the Page recommended by Nutty
You probably don't know the local geography and you wouldn't realise that The Wellington Inn, Wolviston, Cleveland - 01642 531824 is fairly near.
It's run by the Wilson Family and no matter how many of the family turn-up, you will enjoy it's intimate, laid-back atmosphere, a chance to say "Howdo" to them all, and, very good beer !!!

Guisborough isn't far away - The Globe on Friday is a nice friendly club, then's there's the rugby club on Sunday. And the Cutty Wren on Thursday, now moved from Marske to Skelton, I think, but still within reach of Stockton.

You're absolutely correct, all 3 you mention are excellent welcoming clubs, but would need a car from Stockton as a Taxi would be quite expensive, and I thought a taxi - Stockton to Wolviston might be manageable.
If Mariner doesn't mind driving to and from these Clubs he/she will have a great time.
