I didn't want this lost or missed in Max's message about Mudcat and his family. It's often easy for us to read and respond to the good parts and kind of skip the bad. So here's just a reminder thread to focus in on this wonderful 'Catter and the only Mudcat employee as well!

Here's what Max said:

Pene Azul: Pene's father has taken ill, very ill. Pene has been spending about 20 hours a day tending to his father at the hospital. To do this, Pene has quit most of his jobs, and is in quite a bind with all of his and his father's bills, not to mention the medical expenses involved. I am putting several items from the mudcat physical archive into the auction to raise funds for Pene in this very difficult time. The items are awesome, so dig deep, take something awesome home and help our only employee of this great resource.

And that pretty well sums it up. I owe so much to so many here that this is just one small chance for me to payback. Some of you might want to pay it forward. Believe me when it comes to this place, what goes around comes around and what you put in will come back to you in spades.

We all owe a lot to Jeff for all the work that he does and the knowledge he has contributed to this place......and just for being the friend that he is! He's truly one of the good guys. Do whatever you can.

Simply note that your check or Money Order is for the Elffund/Jeff. I think Max can handle it that way without too many problems. There are a few bucks left over-- very few-- from the Friends of Rick Fielding Fund that was originally set up after his passing to handle "anonymous" donations toward the shawl/collection for Heather Fielding. The bank has been harrassing me to close the account and I think this is what I've been waiting for. I guess before I do that, if anyone wants to make an "anonymous" donation to the elf fund, I can handle that as well. I'll close the account in time to send it as a Thanksgiving check. If people want to make an anonymous donation, why not send a money order directly to the address provided? No offense but not all people on the internet are exactly trustworthy, even some here at Mudcat. If you aren't comfortable with sending funds via PayPal, I would encourage you to send a money order. There is no record of a checking account number and you can be sure that your money actually gets where you want it to go.

I've been where you are now, and you lose focus on whatever isn't right in front of you right 'now', your life goes on 'hold', and you don't realize the amount of stress you're under, even though you think you do, until it stops, and you just know you can keep doing that for as long as you have to. Well, you can't. Eat, sleep, and make some time just for you, even if it's just a little bit.

And I'm NOT going to claim to be in 'Mothering mode'. I'd be a crappy mother. I'm in the Know-It-All Friend type of mode. You have a load of friends here. Some of us are pretty damned weird, but we care.

A small donation by paypal was so easy I almost feel a fraud. But Mudcat has widen all our worlds so much and this man is obviously a driving force.
