Do you know anything about the songwriters? I have the recording by Odetta. Does anyone know of any others?

Yes, thank you Peace, I do remember that thread (in which I participated) and it rather led nowhere.

I did try to follow up that suggestion as to authorship, and found no better clues.

I have a recording on a CD, copied from an old reel-to-reel tape, hence no id of artist. Female singer sounds very British, certainly not Odetta's voice.
