Subject: The lovely Greg Stephens From: GUEST,Not the Boat Band Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:16 PM Greg's been on the radio. Listen here ... until 22 October, then it will be somebody else. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Peace Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:28 PM At risk of ticking you off: would you be kind enough to tell me what the heck to click on the page that opens? I ain't all that smart about computers and stuff, and I would love to listen to Greg. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: GUEST,Me again Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:40 PM It should start playing all by itself. You do need to have RealPlayer on your computer... I don't like RealPlayer but that's how it is. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: The Borchester Echo Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:41 PM You don't have to click on anything, it opens up with Bellowhead and Mr Stephens pops up several tracks later: Genevieve Tudor's playlist. He's everywhere. I expect that next time I turn on a tap here's be there too. Anyway, makes a change from that Lakeperson . . . |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Peace Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:43 PM OK. It's the 'real player' thing then. It ain't ever worked right. Is there any other way to hear Greg's presentation? |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: The Borchester Echo Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:46 PM Should have said 'he'll be there'. 'Twas the very thought of him popping out of a tap. Or maybe the toaster. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: greg stephens Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:52 PM They seek him here, they seek him there..... |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: katlaughing Date: 15 Oct 06 - 07:02 PM Kewl, thanks! I'll try to give it a listen late tonight! |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: The Borchester Echo Date: 15 Oct 06 - 07:35 PM I'd forgotten how good Crookfinger Jack were, it was such a long time ago. Glad that the transfer from wax cylinder to CD went well. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Ebbie Date: 15 Oct 06 - 07:54 PM Well, I listened for awhile. But then it wouldn't let me go. The only choices it gives you is 'Start from the Beginning' and 'Cancel'. Both take you right back to the show. I had to leave the internet completely to get rid of it. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: GUEST,Dale Date: 15 Oct 06 - 08:22 PM I ALWAYS use jetaudio to listen to real audio files. RA is not even installed on this computer. I like it that way. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Bobert Date: 15 Oct 06 - 08:30 PM Hey, you all talkin' 'bout me drinkin' buddy here... Ight of fact, if he and Kate had stayed with me another week he would have coverted me from a blues-guy to a cajun-guy... Fir sure... Bobert |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: greg stephens Date: 16 Oct 06 - 12:45 AM It's about half an hour into the programme that I'm appear...but do I understand you aren't allowed to fast forward? I dont have a computer, so I dont understand this stuff. Incidentally, had I known this programme was going to be available to people in the south of England, via computer, I might have been slightly more temperate in my remarks about those "No Reels" types who are so keen on playing polkas. Re Countess Richard's earlier remarks about the Lakesperson: at least my pictures are not diplayed by the escalators on the London Underground. Well, not yet, anyway. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Paco Rabanne Date: 16 Oct 06 - 03:21 AM The very lovely Greg Stephens has slept in my bed..... but that's a story for another day! |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Les in Chorlton Date: 16 Oct 06 - 07:53 AM Is Greg Stephens Ashley Hutchigs father? |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: DannyC Date: 16 Oct 06 - 09:08 AM ... and there was at least one Yank listening in. Thank you for posting the link. Lovely indeed... |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Wolfgang Date: 16 Oct 06 - 11:44 AM It worked fine for me. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Snuffy Date: 16 Oct 06 - 07:58 PM From the thread title I had visions of a "tasteful" calendar featuring the aforesaid lovely, but was greatly reassured by actually reading the thread. |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Herga Kitty Date: 17 Oct 06 - 08:09 PM Oh, hurray, I've just celebrated my conection today to Broadband by following the link above and listening to the Boat Band (and yes, I did sign up to Real Player to get it). Kitty |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: greg stephens Date: 18 Oct 06 - 03:20 AM I'm not sure there's any Boat Band on this programme: I think(though I'm not sure, I cant access it) that this all refers to a programme I just did an interview on with Genevieve Tudor. And I was actually plugging the reissue on CD of the 70's "Beggar Boy of the North"(Greg Stephe ns and Crookfinger Jack), and they played a few tracks of that. Though, having said that, the Boat Band did a Genevieve Tudor interview earlier this year. Is it possible that is archived somewhere? I don't know. Anway, what I want to know is:who is my secret admirer, who starts threads entitled "The Lovely Greg Stephens"? Am I being stalked? |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: GUEST,Greg's stalker Date: 19 Oct 06 - 02:19 PM Certainly not! |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: GUEST,Greg's admirer Date: 19 Oct 06 - 08:12 PM I'd love to stalk you if I had the chance Greg, but you always seem to be with Kate or Tony, so I can't get you on my own - shame... |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: Bob Bolton Date: 19 Oct 06 - 08:47 PM Hmmm... Taking Greg's tip, I went back in (the screen shows the link as BBC Player ... and has 5 minute and 15 minute forward buttons - but no reverse!) I went forward 15 minutes X 2 ... and, after a competition clue, got Greg's mob. Quite entertaining! The player has no effective "Quit" ... the only way out is to close down the internet connection. (I have, reluctantly, loaded Real Player on this box ... so it may have been operating what showed up as "~ BBC Player". Whatever it was is annoying anally retentive! Regard(les)s, Bob |
Subject: RE: The lovely Greg Stephens From: GUEST,I don't like RealPlayer either but... Date: 22 Oct 06 - 03:53 PM No Quit? Same as any other web page - it's there until you move on to a different one. You want to keep listening? keep the page open. You want to stop? Close it or type a different address in. Anyway, Greg's still there for a couple of hours, then tonight's show will be there. |
