Subject: RE: Cantaria website. Folk songs/music - gone? From: Joe Offer Date: 18 Oct 15 - 03:23 AM For those who have Websites that are of value to folk music people, please be aware that one way or another, we will host archived websites. Look at the QuickLinks dropdown menu on most Mudcat pages, and you will see several. I host Jon Freeman's wonderful folkinfo.org Website on my own Website: We don't want wonderful Websites like Cantaria to disappear, so we'll do what it takes to preserve them if you ask. Will Cantaria be perpetually available at archive.org? I hope so. -Joe- |

Here's an archive.org snapshot of the Website back thern: Here's a snapshot of the Website from 3 Sept 2014, the most recent date available: |
Subject: Cantaria Folksong Archive is gone: where From: Catamariner Date: 17 Oct 15 - 06:52 PM Hello, Folk. I went to look up something on Cantaria and it's gone. Site taken down. Squatters now on the Chivalry.com premises. Site available for tens of thousands of dollars, if you care to get the license from them. There are still many, many links to the Cantaria Folk Song Archive out there, but they go to an undead squatter site. Does anyone know what happened to Kathleen Akers and to the content that was hosted on Chivalry, Cantaria, and the Missouri Celtic Arts sites?? The new owners have had it since late August of this year. Like DigiTrad, it was a darned good idea. Thanks. -- Heather |
Subject: RE: Review: found something ... From: Lox Date: 15 Oct 06 - 08:28 PM some of it a bit lacking, bu some, particularly a couple of the Irish songs sung a cappella are well worth a go. whatever else, it's not a bad resource as everything I've listened to so far is pretty raw, unaffected and open to interpretation. |

Subject: RE: Review: found something ... From: Grab Date: 15 Oct 06 - 07:03 PM Thanks for the link - good stuff! Never heard "Itches in my britches" before, but suspect our club will be hearing it in the not-too-distant future... Graham. |

Subject: Review: found something ... From: Lox Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:45 PM You've probanly all been here a thousand times, and the songs are probably all on the digitrad anyway, but have a look at this and feel free to comment. The handy thing is being able to hear the song sung in in its most basic form. |
