The esteemed Jim Morrison mentioned , at Sharps, yeterday evening that he is involved with starting a Singing session upstairs at "The King and Queen" pub in Foley St Lond W1 (nearest Station Goodge St Northern Line) a short walk from Tottenham Court Road, on Thursdays, starting at 8 ish, admission Free, first session Thursday 19 October so if you are in the vicinity, or within travelling distance pop in and have a song, it is the venue used this year for "Sharps in Exile" during August, with Good Real ales and a pleasent room, so come along if you can. Before you ask I dont think there will be any "tune session" type playing but if you want to do a solo tune on an instrument I am sure that would be OK, I expect it will folow the same (very) relaxed attitude to music and what is permitted that Sharps does.

It's also been the venue, for several years, for Ken Hall and Peta Webb's Musical Traditions Club!

Anyone fancy babysitting the Limpit on Thursdays? It's a mere stagger from the office on a day I'm IN the office and yet, I probably won't make it because I have to sit on the child.... : (

King and Queen Great landlord friendly bar staff. You will enjoy it.

Apart from being the pub where Peta and myself have been running the Musical traditions club since 1990. The room upstairs has a considerable folk pedgigree. Martin Carthy ran a club there in the 60,s indeed it was there he met Bob Dylan in the winter of 62 when Dylan was over doing a radio prog for the BBC. Strangely enough when Keith Summers and myself first found the pub we did not know of its history we only found out later.

We presented the landlord with a photo of a very young looking Dylan singing in the club room possibly from the same occassion mentioned above. If you go ask someone to point the photo out to you.

Ye lucky buggers - another singing club in London, and me four years out of the place. Grr!
Give my love to Jim (and to Finbar, Clive and the usual suspects who, I imagine, will make the place special). And, should I ever be up in the smoke of a Thursday, I'll move heaven and earth to be there.
