Does anyone know the lyrics for Lassie, Come and Dance With Me.
The music director of the community choir I sing in would like to find this song. The local music store could not come up with anything. We have found the tune but no words.
Thanks. Tom

Tom, do you have any other info on the song? That is, do you know ANY of the words at all?

This is not the place for jokes, etc. Take that below the line, SVP.

Is this the dance, to a tune similar to Oats and Beans.
Vague memories...
Come my love and dance with me    x3
And we will keep good company

You're too young you are not fit   x3
You may not leave your mother yet

You're old enough ....
.....?????

An inner circle of men and an outer circle of ladies walk in opposite dirrections, swing the one you meet in 3rd verse. (maybe more to it?)

I have heard some sound clips online. I think it's a Scottish jig.

O lassie come and dance with me and say that you'll be mine. (not sure what's next. then) happy as can be. I'll never love another lassie, O come and dance with me.

The meter seems to be 7.7 7.7 all the way through.

I appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.
Tom

Andy B. Stewart sings this on his album "Andy's Scottish Party," Scotdisc, 1995. Authorship is credited to "Grant/Andy B. Stewart." I got this from a sound sample:

...tell her we'll be happy as can be.
I'll never love another lassie. Come and dance with me.

There's a bonnie, bonnie lassie and ... she makes me sigh
I'd like to be her laddie, but I'm awful, awful shy.
I hope that she can hear me. Yes, I hope she's listening.
Maybe she will be my dearie, a delight to have her sing.

O lassie, come and dance with me when stars begin to shine.
O lassie, come and dance with me and say you will be mine.
O lassie,....

Well, here's my transcription of the Foster & Allen recording.

LASSIE COME AND DANCE WITH ME
(as recorded by Foster & Allen)

CHORUS
Lassie, Come and Dance With Me
When stars begin to shine.
Lassie, Come and Dance With Me
And say you will be mine.
With our arms around each other,
We'll be happy as can be.
I'll never love another,
Lassie, come and dance with me.

There's a storm outside me ragin'
Moon or stars be in the sky,
There's a fire of love a-burning
And a twinkle in your eye.
And the lassie of your fancy
By your loving side will cling,
As your heart beats to the music,
You can hear the laddies sing:
CHORUS

There's a bonnie, bonnie lassie,
And her beauty makes me sigh;
I'd like to be her laddie,
But I'm awful, awful shy.
I hope that she can hear me,
Yes, I hope she's listening;
Maybe she will be my dearie,
When tonight to her I sing:
CHORUS

I'm not completely sure of the first two lines of the "storm" verse.

LASSIE COME AND DANCE WITH ME
(as recorded by Andy Stewart)

CHORUS
Lassie, Come and Dance With Me
When stars begin to shine.
Lassie, Come and Dance With Me
And say you will be mine.
With our arms around each other,
We'll be happy as can be.
I'll never love another,
Lassie, come and dance with me.

When the fiddles stop a-tuning'
And the band begins to play;
There is laughter in the music,
And the laddie's heart is gay.
When the lassie of his fancy
By his loving side will cling,
As their hearts beat to the music,
You can hear the laddie sing:
CHORUS

There's a bonnie, bonnie lassie,
And her beauty makes me sigh;
I would like to be her laddie,
But I'm awfully, awfully shy.
Well I hope that she can hear me,
Yes, I hope she's listening;
Maybe she will be my dearie,
When tonight to her I sing:
CHORUS

I had trouble with the first verse on this one, too.

listen to this
It is good but hard to discern
If any younger ears can make out the words of the verse you are discussing I would be obliged

Do you mean 'Lassie, Come Dance With Me' or 'Lassie Come and Dance with me'? If the former, the tune can be found at
