I have to be in Chicago from 10 May to 15 May. I arrive by train and I stay at a/the Holiday Inn when I'm not at the disabilities workshops I'm attending what do I do?

Go to the Newberry Library, there's lots of good old songs and tunes there in rare old 18th century books and manuscripts. I wish I was going there.

Check out the Old Town School of Folk Music's new location on N. Lincoln Ave. (No longer in Old Town). They have a fine new concert hall - good sound and sight lines. [phone] for info. Good Irish Music at the Abbey Pub Grace St/Elston on the North side.[phone]. The Irish-American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox. [phone]. By the end of April, the Aural Tradition Newsletter will be available with all the May folk entertainment listings. What kind of music are you interested in?

If your going to Chicago, the last thing you'll have to worry about is finding something to do! Some good suggestions of info sites : Look up the Chicago Reader online - it has info re: the literally hundreds of plays going on, all the music you could desire, cultural events, museums, etc.

As well, the weather is usually nice come May (although you never know - there were snow flurries in June at the lake about 7 years ago in the beginning of June) and a visit to the Lakefront can be a day long trip!

Other good music venues:

Schuba's on Southport & Belmont for wide variety Kingston Mines, Blues Chicago anf Blues ETC. for Blues

I'm very eclectic I like all kinds of culture, Both agri and horti. I like both kinds of music, I like country AND western.

I'm mainly a folk fan, Art Thieme style, Gordon Bok style, but push come to shove, I'll try anything once or twice.

These all sound great! Michael Smith (Dutchman, Spoon River,?) sounds like a good prospect. So does Jim Post. I can line up an evening of great music, now if I can find a good comicbook shop with 40's and 50's books fine or better condition.
