Dave Swarbrick, the most revered fiddle player on the folk music scene for four decades, and his new group Lazarus, will be appearing at the Cranleigh Arts Centre in South West Surrey on Saturday 28th October 2006 (ie this forthcoming Saturday) at 8 pm.

Apart from Dave himself the group comprises fellow ex-Fairport member,multi-instrumentalist Maartin Allcock, and a fellow ex-Whippersnapper, guitarist Kevin Dempsey. After having had his musical career curtailed by serious illness in the last few years Dave is about to set the folk scene alight again with his aptly named group, so why not take the opportunity to see him in action on Saturday!

Admission £16.50 (£15.00 in advance)via the Cranleigh Arts Centre box office on 08456 128128.

I heard that he was in rude good health now, after his lung transplant. He sure is making that premature obituary look wrong I'm glad to say.
Giok

Saw Lazarus at North Boarhunt a couple of months ago - well worth the ticket price I would say. Can't come this time though as I'm doing a concert in Devon on Saturday. Have a Fab evening!!

I love the name for the band. Shows that Dave has a good sense of humour about some of the premature reports.

"Swarbs sense of humour was never in doubt."

Witness the copies of the obituary that he was distributing at a gig here in Guildford (when he was still in not very good health) after it had appeared in the nationals - unfortunately by the time I tried to get a copy on that visit they'd all been snapped up very swiftly!!

Sadly I'm going to miss his group's performance on Saturday as I've got a friend coming to stay who won't be able to go , and I have to do the social thing :-(
