Subject: dixie chicks at london film festival From: mustradclub Date: 27 Oct 06 - 05:08 AM Went to see the film "Shut Up And Sing". followed by a Q and A session afterward at the National Film Theatre.Sadly none of the group were there but the director of the film was. The film was interesting in that it showed what the group had to deal with back in America. Some of it just plain daft but other aspects quite alarming, especially the pressure put on radio stations not to play their songs. It also confirmed my opinion that anyone with any real talent or integrity on the country music scene is forced to work outside the mainstream anyway. Good film dont know when and if it will be released over here but get to see it if you can. The Women come accross as fascinating characters especially Natalie Maines the one who actually made the unguarded comment about Bush that set off the whole controversy. The music is pretty good too. Subject: RE: dixie chicks at london film festival From: GUEST Date: 27 Oct 06 - 08:15 AM The film opens today in the US, and I'll be going this weekend. If you liked the film, you might want to get the director's other films, namely "American Dream" and "Harlan County USA" (the latter which features a very well known Mudcat member's music performance). |
