There was a great article in the Yorkshire Post Magzine last Saturday about the Topic, written by Roger Sutcliffe [ seriously the best blues guitarist in GB ] he recalls how Ramblin' Jack Elliott arrived with a 17 year old American kid who was only allowed to sing because he came with Jack, nobody liked him, his name was Bob Dylan.

I'd recommend the Topic in it's new home to anyone who hasn't yet visited. One of the best folk clubs in the UK.

Good to see you in York on Saturday Wayne!

The anniversary season has been a musical treat. If you fancy a trip to Bradford one Thursday, you're sure to have a very warm welcome and a stunning evening of song!

Just an announcement/reminder of what's up.

November has perhaps the most high-profile monthly programme the Topic in Bradford has mounted, all as part of the our 50th Anniversary celebratory season. Check the website for more details/ how to get tickets and so on.

Nov 2 Allan Taylor
A Topic regular in the late 70s, now back with his songs drawn from a lifetime of travelling. Featured support will be from local Otley duo The Hall Brothers.

Nov 9 Dana and Susan Robinson
Guitar, fiddle, banjo and two voices, providing rootsy new old-time music from rural America, some traditional, some Dana has written himself. Suppport from fellow American Debra Cowan.

Nov 16 Julie Felix
Her TV show was the BBC's first ever in colour; before that she was resident on The Frost Report (see a a pic of them all here). "The British Joan Baez" is a real breath of the 60s folk revival.

Nov 23 Singers' and Musicians' night, the only one of the anniversary season, and an opportunity for everyone to say they performed as part of it. Entry free.

Nov 30 Wizz Jones
Legendary blues guitarist who apparently first played the Topic in 1958. Eclectic style, a right hand to die for, a guitarist directly inspired by BBBroonzy, Davy Graham, RJElliott, LJBaldry and Ewan McColl. He is probably the closest link with the Topic's formative years in the whole Season: come and marvel.
