I was trying to remember this the other day from when I was a kid, but forgotten most of it :-(
Friend of mine was saying her primary school kids had to change the words as they had to take a pill and get well, no longer allowed to die.
Political correctness has definately gone too far.

So it's not PC to even die now, is it?

Well s*d 'em, I fully intend to die when I'm good and ready, and I defy those b*gg*rs to stop me!

:-)

The Tattie Soup Song is in the repertoire of Artie and Cilla's 'Singing Kettle' show - I'm fairly sure they have a web-site with lyrics.

Greentrax Recordings released a CD earlier this year with the title "Chokit on a tattie".
Recordings from the School of Scottish Studies Archives.
(Pre-PC days reordings of kids and adults singing their songs of childhood!)
CDTRAX 9022.

I asked about this some time ago, but it seems to have got lost somewhere.
This is a childrens' song that I can't remember all the words for. I do know that a local school has decided that dieing is not PC and now the singer has to take a pill and get well!
hope someone can help this time, thanks

P.S. any other kids songs (preferably Scots or Doric) very welcome.

A CD of that very name is available from Greentrax Recors in Edinburgh. Check out their website.

"singing Kettle" does it according to an earlier thread.

the only lyrics I've been able to find about a tattie or a tattie scone is:

Posted: 06 Dec 2005 at 03:16
Last night there was a murder in a fish shop
A wee dug stole a haddie bone
A big dug tried tae take it aff her
So ah hit it wi' a tattie scone

The wee dug ran tae tell its mammy,
    It's mammy wisnae in,
It took a look through the window,
An' this it what it seen:

Her false teeth were lying on the table,
Her curly wig was lying on the bed
And she was sitting in the old armchair
    Screwing aff her widden leg.

Just out of interest, in Paisley where I was born and grew up, near Glasgow, we never pronounced the word 'tattie'. It was always 'tottie' as in 'tottie scone', or 'a stane o' totties'.

How on earth did I come up with Stanley Robinson????

I meant Stanley Robertson, of course, whose double CD College Boy is definitely on my wishlist.

Sorry for the senior moment!

Matthew
