Subject: Dick Barton tune From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 01 Nov 06 - 07:21 PM Anyone here else remember Dick Barton, Special Agent? (Here's a page with some stuff about the radio serial, if you never heard of him, or to awaken a few memories.) Anyway, the reason I posted this is that I came across this clip on YouTube, which uses the signature tune - "the Devil's Gallop" - to liven up what would otherwise be a boring enough home movie of a bike ride down a London street. Works very well too. But more, it took me back to huddling by the radio for those few minutes every evening all those years ago. So I thought I'd share the memory by posting the link here. |

Not wanting to go to saturday sports because an episode had been missed during the week but could be caught up with in the omnibus edition. Happy days. Jack |

Subject: RE: Dick Barton tune From: Scrump Date: 02 Nov 06 - 04:16 AM In case anyone wants a CD copy of the tune so they can relive their memories of Dick, Jock and Snowy whenever they want to, the original Dick Barton theme "The Devil's Galop" (note the correct spelling - it was spelt with only one 'l') by Charles Williams and his Concert Orchestra, is available on a CD of music from the BBC TV comedy series Dad's Army. The CD is called "Dads Army: Music From The Television Series" and has cat. no. CD41010, according to the HMV site where I found it. |
