Shepherds Hey (Bampton version, I think). The real question is whatever does it have to do with Corsica?

Yet another case of not using the appropriate traditional national music. It is probably just the case of "Oh, here's something that's tradition, so we won't have to pay royalties and we can't be bothered looking any further!!"

Shepherds Hay is perfectly acceptable as a sinature tune as the original setting for the programme is a village in The Cotswolds !

Why do people get hollier than thou over music if its a bonny piece of music or evocative.

Oh, was it that other Chipping Bonifacio where they were? Silly me, I always mix them up. And Shepherds Hey is such an international tune. If it's good enough for Oxfordshire sheep it'll do for Corsican goats.

hollier than thou

Yes, well why not use The Prickleye Bush? After all, everyone else is using it for anything these days.

Shepherds Hey is evocative of Cotswold Morris. It is also a well-known tune, a tape or CD of which was probably lying around the drama production office for instant recycling by researchers who can't be arsed to match music to subject matter (which appears, from the bit I heard, to be some rather silly people on na Mediterranean island which has its own musical tradition).

Diane - The 'Silly People' normally live in the Cotswolds , the Corsican setting is mereley for this particular story line !

I have read many of the Agatha Raisin novels. Poor Agatha, she never succeeds in love or cookery.

Tell me, does the actress who plays her have "bear-like" eyes? That's the kind Agatha has.

If you have only heard the last episode then I can see why you might think the music innappropriate but all the previous ones were set in the character's home village which is supposed to be in the Cotswolds. I had actually thought how absolutely right the music was - fancy the Beeb getting it right and using a Cotswold morris tune for a programme set there!
