Of course, there's also a website for the Irish Arts Week in East Durham, New York.
If you can't read the link, it's at
http://www.east-durham.org/page1.html

OK thanks for the info everyone. So who's got the Mystic dates or URL? Going to both would be probably too much fun, but we're going to Northampton on June 5 for a wedding, is it that weekend or the next?

The one time I went to Mystic was about 1990, and I was extremely fortunate to see Stan Hugill performing, it was the year before he died. What an amazing character. What an all-round great weekend, swashbuckling around that fascinating site. Especially enjoyed the pub sing, it was like drinking in church, probably at The Parish O' Dunkeld. I'll get back there sometime...

Bill

Guess it's time to order one. Since Ts are my Kitchen uniform, i'll have to watch it so that it doesn't become a disaster area. I am a very good, but not very neat, chef.

Mystic is usually around June 8 or 10 or so. See you there? Have you a tee shirt?

So now there are THREE things happening at the end of June that I'd love to go to. So when is Mystic?

Old Songs is the last weekend of June (as always) at the Altamont Fiargrounds in Altamont, New York, about 10-15 miles West of Albany, New York.

You can find all the detailed info at: the old songs website: www.oldsongs.org

What Animaterra didn't say above is that the thunderstorm stopped the sound system, but not the music. Kat n 't Seil (a Dutch/Frisian group) was performing, and after the sound system was turned off because of the thunderstorm, they took a few photos of the audience which wan't budging from their seats in the pouring rain, and then continued to sing, a cappella, without benefit of microphones. They picked a sing along, and the soggy audience sang along. Not many festivals where something like that would happen...

I'll be there! Warning: it is also called the "Old *Sogs* Festival" due to the frequency of rainfall. Last year's thundershow was one of the most dramatic I had ever experienced- but the music continued until the sound crew demanded it stop temporarily due to the amount of electricity in the air. Everyone was cheerful and friendly anyway- it's the greatest!

Who's going to pay my fare? -:)
No, seriously, I wish I could go, especially as I've just heard that one of Scotland's best traditional singers, Heather Heywood, is going to teach at a summer school there. If you go - don't miss her! Enjoy! - Susanne

Bill here's the address. Went last year with the family. A great time was had by all (dispite the thunder storm), the kids (10 & 8 at the time) had as good a time as my wife & I. There were a few catters I missed that were there (see last year's post Old Songs in the forum) & I did run into Susan & Dick (for the 2nd time last summer). We haven't planned our festivals for this year but it'll probably one of the top of our list. Mystic is a must but only for me, the rest of my family would keelhaul me after that big a dose of shanties & me. Barry

And where, exactly?

Someone please enlighten me. That's a show I've always meant to make it to--and it sounds like there'll be a pile of m-catters there, yes?

Thanks Bill
