Subject: Everybody ought to know who Jesus is' From: GUEST,gotariver Date: 10 Nov 06 - 05:23 PM Help! Who knows the origin of the song "Everybody ought to know ... who Jesus is" with chorus "He´s the Lily of the Valley..."? It was popular in the fifties. The first bars are the same as Harry Dixon Loes´ "Every Moment of the Day" and the chorus is = "What a Friend we have in Jesus". There is a song "Everybody don´t know..." with the same chorus but slightly different melody. It was recorded by Rev. F.W McGee 1930 and later by several New Orleans Jazz Bands. But the origin of "Everybody ought to know"??? Thanks for your help Ingemar Wagerman, Gota River Jazzmen, Gothenburg, Sweden |
