I was listening to the Blue Sky Boys and a thought surfaced that has always been lurking below the surface.
"Deep, deep in a lonesome valley where the roses bloom and fade.
There lies my fair eyed Ellen so lonesome in her grave."
She had been loved by both of them then?

I started to wonder about the whole idea of more than one singer (at a time) telling personal stories. I'm glad, of course, that they do. I love close harmony singing -- but I wondered if any one else thinks about the paradox.

Big groups of singers often sing songs about being alone - yes I know about being alone in a crowd, but often a song is not about that.
It might be about a horrible murder for example -- and I think to myself - are they all killing this poor girl? How did they all fit on one horse?
Or on a brighter note - are all those people kissing one person? In turn? At once? Will they all get married - and will it work?

Just wondering.
Cheers, Joy
