OK, I can't believe I made it to almost 60 years of age without knowing about Wizz Jones. You Brits have really kept this one a secret. I can't get enough of watching this WIZZ JONES VIDEO.

Just one of Peggy Seeger's guitar pupils from her early days in the UK. He does have CD's available I believe. One of them may even be of his duets with Pete Stanley a one time banjo student of Peggy's from the same period.

Wizz put on a fantastic show at the Walthamstow club last year and he'll be back on 7th January 2007 if anyone is in the area.

Wizz Jones is appearing at the Topic FC in Bradford on Thursday 30th November, as part of their 50th Aniversary celebrations.

There is a link from their home page (Topic Folk Club website) to a YouTube hosted video showing Wizz on TV as part of an Alan Whicker report from 1960 covering "beatniks" in Newquay!

The embedded YouTube video works a treat Nicholas. In fact, you've sparked off some ideas for Julie's website here at Acoustyistics towers!!

It is amazing to watch Michelmore and Whicker on air. The whole thing has the air of a Monty Python sketch. I couldn't get the Whicker's Island sketch out of my head for hours after watching it!

Seriously underestimated bloke, Wizz. I saw him a good few times at the Tree Inn Folk Club, as was, in Stratton, near Bude. Bloody brilliant. The last time I saw him I lasted about three of his songs then spent the rest of the evening, half-pissed, in nearby Stratton Medical Centre, having a foreign object removed from my eye by a nurse of the old style, one of those who took no prisoners. Ah, those were the days!

Dick (and others), if you want to post a YouTube link, that's fine - but please don't start a new thread for every YouTube video you happen to like. Use the filter and find an existing thread on the song or performer in question, and refresh that existing thread with your YouTube link.
