I highly recommend Ian F. Benzie's version of "Lady Keith's Lament"on his second solo album "I'se the Bye". I have both of his solo albums and they're excellent. He was the lead singer for Old Blind Dogs - I don't think he's with them anymore but I may be wrong. It's available on http://www.musicscotland.com .

The 2nd and 3rd verses of the version in DT have been switched around, and it's been 'Scotified' a bit, from Hogg's 'When the King comes o'er the Water" (Lady Kieth's Lament). 'Jacobite Relics', I, p. 45, 1819

"The Boyne Water" is in DT with its tune.

Hmmm, doesn't seem that similar, This one is much more of a "waiting for the return" type song, Wish I could dredge up more than half of the melody, it was a beaut.

It's a variant of "Boyne Water". It's from James Hogg's 'Jacobite Relics of Scotland', and it has been suggested, not unreasonably, that he wrote it.

I once heard a recording of this, and was delighted to find the words on DT, but now I can't remember the tune. Anyone know who recorded it, or have a midi of the tune? There isn't one on the database.

Susan
