Subject: RE: Bok Muir Tricket Liner Notes From: bbc Date: 28 Nov 06 - 07:43 PM Hi, Gwenzilla, I fear this may be too late, but, perhaps, it will help for future performances. Gordon writes: I found this version of the old "John Barleycorn" in George McKay Brown's book, An Orkney Tapestry, among other traditional poems & songs. It wasn't clear in the book, but it is my guess that, because of the style & poetry of it, this is not a traditional version, but Mr. Brown's own personal version. I built the tune for it in 1986, including the variations which allow it to follow the words more clesely. Enjoy, bbc |

Subject: RE: Bok Muir Tricket Liner Notes From: GUEST Date: 28 Nov 06 - 02:14 PM I have the CD but it didn't come with liner notes. There's a separate book that you have to order from Folk Legacy. It seems that I haven't done that yet. If it's not too late you may want to send an e-mail to Sandy and Caroline Paton. |
Subject: Bok Muir Tricket Liner Notes From: Gwenzilla Date: 28 Nov 06 - 06:59 AM I've misplaced my liner notes for "And So Will We Yet". I have a guest spot at Sharps in London tonight, and I'm performing the version of John Barleycorn I learned from that CD. Can someone with a copy of the liner notes share the historical/collection information about that version with me here? My memory for what's in the notes is sketchy except that they appear to have found this version in Canada. |
