A Cat Stevens album by any other smells as sweet...

Sat here giving it my first listen and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. Couple of nods in the direction of his old stuff but all in all a different kettle of fish. Or maybe an other cup of tea? Far cry from some comeback and retro albums I have heard. A re-work of 'I think I think I see the light" is the only cover of early stuff and even that is far different to the original.

The rest of the stuff was unkown to me, apart from one which I will come to. Apparantly 3 are off 'Moonshadow the Musical' but having never heard that I didn't know. Very slick and professional. Exceedingly well produced and a joy to listen to.

The other cover, that I alluded to, is 'Don't let me be misunderstood'. A clever pun considering the type of comments he will get about alledged past indiscresions:-) All in All, top marks. Give it a listen with an open mind. I think you will enjoy it.

Great album!

Singer-songwriters are back in vogue and quite a few of the new breed are very good indeed but An Other Cup is truly special. Can't imagine it'll get much airplay though.

Not heard the LP. A couple of weeks back I heard a song on the radio and thought, "This bloke sounds like Cat Stevens, but different". Turned out it was him, but 30 years older. I recal it sounded decent.
