The Macs must have been together for about 40 years by now (and it don't seem a day too much!) with only two changes in lineup!
Congrats to them all including Hamish and Derek wherever you are.
Sorry I'll miss the New Year festivities again but it wasn't the same without Derek singing "Nothing Like A Dame!
Will definitely get back to Scotland soon

Eddie

As you probably know, Derek passed away a few years ago. Anyone know what happened to Hamish? Last I heard he was working as a carpenter in the midlands but that was what Derek told me over 20 years ago.

Just before I left Edinburgh (in 97) Hamish had a workshop down Leith dirction where he was making concertinas and his wife was producing her tapestries

Congratuations to the McCalmans. I only met them twice, in Berlin 1978/79 at the Black Bear Folk Club, BMH (British Military Hospital) It's hard to believe it's nearly 30 years ago. They were the kindest guys, giving praise to all the club singers - no airs and graces to be seen. Happy memories.
Hazel.
PS anyone know/remember Doug Porter .. folk scene touring military clubs back then. I had his cassette stolen along with a McCalmans one.

I met the Macs in the early 70s in Glasgow at the BBC Scottish Television Studios where they were recording a program. Their early recording "Singers Three" is still a favorite in my LP collection.   The Laggan, lead by Arthur Johnson was another of my favorite groups at the time. are they sill around?
    Congratulations to The Macs.

Hi Boab
If I'm the famous Eddie to whom you allude, (I thought I was only famous in Niddrie Mains!), I shall be having an English Festive Season here in Reading.

With both Christmas and New Year's Day being Mondays, I have three choices.

1. Get up early and do a live radio show.
2. Pre-record the radio show.
3. Let the radio run on autupilot, sleep late and go to the pub!

There will be a small prize for anyone guessing which I will opt for!

Have a good one and I guess like me you will miss the hooly at Loanhead!
Maybe next year.

Eddie
