Can anybody help? I'm looking for a tune for a wassailing song, the first verse of which I have as:

Wisselton wasselton, who lives here?
We've come to taste your Christmas beer.
Up the kitchen and down the hall,
Holly ivy, and mistletoe
A peck of apples will serve us all,
Give us some apples and let us go.

I'd be very grateful for any help, unreasonably quick as it's for performance from this Thursday (Dec 7th)!

Never heard it. Very interesting. Something looks a bit odd about it: probably not a traditional song? I think the "peck of apples" doesnt quite ring true.

The text, plus another verse, can be found at several websites; though none, so far as I can see, bother to credit any source. A setting by Alan Bullard for SS(S) and piano is published by Oxford University Press (1999); it is usually available from them for a couple of pounds; the OUP site states that it is "currently reprinting", but the page hasn't been updated since March. Evidently it is number 3 of a suite of three songs, 'At the Turn of the Year.' Whether text or tune are traditional or modern I can't tell. For a few details, see

Thanks for responses - it's now in performance (!) using an adaptation of 'The Rose', Fieldtown.
