Subject: Lyr Add: DOO WAH DIDDY DIDDY From: Azizi Date: 07 Dec 06 - 08:07 AM You can blame Taylor for this. Yesterday she {or he} sent me this children's cheer: "There she goes just a walkin down to first singin " do a diddy diddy dumb diddy dee" next batter up sayin "let me hit" singin do a diddy diddy dumb diddy dee! she looks good she looks fine she looks good she looks fine just walkin down that baseline!" -snip- I immediately recognized this song as that cheer's probably source: DOO WAH DIDDY DIDDY (jeff barrie and ellie greenwich) There she was just a-walkin down the street, Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Snappin her fingers and shufflin her feet, Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do She looked good, looked good She looked fine, looked fine She looked good, she looked fine And I nearly lost my mind Before I knew it she was walkin next to me. Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Holdin my hand just as natural as can be, Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do We walked on, walked on To my door, my door We walked on to my door, Then we kissed a little more Wo-o-o-oh, I knew we were falling in love, Yes I did, and so I told her all the things That Id been dreamin of Now were toget her nearly every single day, Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Were so happy and that how were gonna stay, Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Im hers, Im hers Shes mine, shes mine Im hers, shes mine, Wedding bells are gonna chime Wo-o-o-oh, I knew we were falling in love, Yes I did, and so I told her all the things That Id been dreamin of Now were togther nearly every single day Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Were so happy and that how were gonna stay Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Im hers, Im hers Shes mine, shes mine Im hers, shes mine, Wedding bells are gonna chime Singin, do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do Do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do http://www.lyricsfreak.com/r/rick+springfield/doo+wah+diddy+diddy_20116312.html -snip- Now I'm worried that I'm gonna be walking down the street or driving in my car an sitting at my desk all day or talking to folks all day with that dang blasted do-wah diddy-diddy down song in my head. Oh, did I pass that pleasure on to you? Sorry. ;o) I'm wondering what good or not so good songs do you sing in your head or sing out loud when you're walking down the street? Thanks in advance for your examples! |
Subject: RE: There I go walkin down the street singin From: Scrump Date: 07 Dec 06 - 10:20 AM I tend to sing in my head, the latest song I'm trying to learn the words of, as I walk down the street or wait for a train or whatever. |
Subject: RE: There I go walkin down the street singin From: PoppaGator Date: 07 Dec 06 - 02:16 PM I'm surprised to see that this was written by the great Brill Building (i.e., American) songwriting team Barrie & Greenwich, since I first heard it as a "British Invasion" hit record back in the 60s. Not sure which Brit group cut the side ~ Manfred Mann, maybe? Repopularized more than a decade later by Bill Murray in the movies "Stripes," sung as a basic-training cadence call. For more on cadence-call songs and lyrics, look up threads on "military jodies." |
Subject: RE: There I go walkin down the street singin From: fat B****rd Date: 07 Dec 06 - 03:13 PM Hello, Poppagator. Yes, Manfred Mann did the cover but it was by the Exciters originally. I have always liked to sing while walking around. But whereas at one time this was seen as a sign of a jovial personality if you do it these days a lot of people look at you as if you are to be avoided. Wellll, it's their loss. |
Subject: RE: There I go walkin down the street singin From: Gizmo Date: 07 Dec 06 - 04:40 PM The last 3 weeks I have been spending every spare time during the day in my children's school basement preparing for the christmas fayre. This unfortunately brought on an unfortunate side effect never before experienced. The juniors in the school - Yr 3 - yr 6 have been practising non-stop songs from Bugsy Malone for their production. This year I have the pleasure of both my children in the production, therefore it has been a not so wonderful treat of endless Bugsy songs all day long. I had to stop my self short when I started to sing the songs at my courses and when shopping. The songs and words have diffused into my brain, and only even more irritating songs will shift them - which defeats the whole object. |
