Subject: Mudcat singers & musicans birthdays From: SussexCarole Date: 07 Dec 06 - 05:19 PM I don't understand why 'famous name' birthdays are kept in the music section of threads while Mudcat members are relegated to the BS section. |

Subject: RE: Mudcat singers & musicans birthdays From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Dec 06 - 05:43 PM In general, although most Mudcatters are mucicians, Mudcat member birthday threads are more of a personal nature and contain very little music information, so they go in the non-music section. Certain Mudcatters, like Jean Ritchie and Art Thieme, warrant exceptions - I'm the one who makes those exceptions because their birthdays ARE significant musical events, so you can blame me. The general criterion is whether the thread would be interesting to outsiders coming here for music information. I'd like to apply the same principle to the deaths of Mudcatters, but I got overruled on that one. In my book, Carole, you will be eternally famous as the woman who sings John Mitchell's "Shirley's Little Sunburnt Spot" - but perhaps not quite so universally famous as some. Recently, there have been some birthdays posted merely as an apparent attempt to annoy - we've decided it's best to ignore the annoyance for the time being. -Joe Offer- |
