Subject: RE: Review: Pro Morris dancing letters in Guardian From: DMcG Date: 09 Dec 06 - 11:08 AM I remember the Squire of Monkseaton Morrismen saying to be "If you aren't exhausted at the end of a Morris dance, you're not doing it properly." He would have approved of those letters. |

Subject: RE: Review: Pro Morris dancing letters in Guardian From: GUEST Date: 09 Dec 06 - 11:24 AM The criticised article: Shall we dance? An unnecessary passing dig at an area of dance the journalist obviously knows nothing about. |

Subject: RE: Review: Pro Morris dancing letters in Guardian From: GUEST Date: 09 Dec 06 - 11:33 AM I resent the implication that morrismen "bat for the other side" We do allow females onto the dance floor to sweep it while we catch our breath before another energetic encounter with the rest of the chaps. |

Subject: RE: Review: Pro Morris dancing letters in Guardian From: Desert Dancer Date: 09 Dec 06 - 01:39 PM It appears as though "Benedictus" in his ignorance has combined his (equally misguided) stereotypes of Morris and Playford dancing. |

Subject: RE: Review: Pro Morris dancing letters in Guardian From: Mo the caller Date: 09 Dec 06 - 06:34 PM Isn't that typical. When I told someone that I enjoyed folk dancing the assumption was that I went Scottish Dancing. When I said "No. English" she thought I meant Morris Dancing. Actually I enjoy any sort of folk dance, as long as I don't have to do it in the street! |
