Subject: RE: Info:Today Is Your Birth Day/1st Time on Earth Day From: RTim Date: 13 May 21 - 09:59 PM The Best Birthday song.....by far!! Tim Radford John Mccutcheon Happy Birthday To You We're going to let second grade out early today Which made little Mikey kind of blue You see he just turned seven years old that day And he thought he'd get a party at school He walked to his house and he's taken of his guard There's tables and chairs all over they yard And his friends jumped up and they hollered real hard Happy birthday to you It makes me think of the good old days Happy birthday to you You sure grew out of your baby ways Happy birthday to you Seventh birthday, we wish you many more Health and wealth and friends by the score Cut the cake and lets eat some more Happy birthday to you Mike's twenty-two now and he's working for his pop And his heads full of business through and through They're puttin' in a whole new system at the shop And forgot he had a birthday due CHORUS Twenty-third birthday . . . Now it's old man Michael in a rocking chair Admiring the view He's still got all his teeth and he's still got all his hair And today he's ninety-two He turns in he seat and he's taken off guard There's chairs and tables all over the yard And his friends jumped up and they hollered real hard Happy birthday to you CHORUS Ninety-second birthday . . . It's your birthday, we wish you many more Health and wealth and friends by the score Tune up the fiddle and lets dance some more Happy birthday to you |

But I learned it as: For it's our __________'s birthday, his/her first day on earth day, a time to be happy and gay. [whoo whoo] So let's all drink a toast to our most charming host, for it's our _________'s birthday today. |
Subject: RE: Info:Today Is Your Birth Day/1st Time on Earth Day From: Jim Dixon Date: 14 Dec 06 - 07:23 AM Well, the Barnard College radio station (WBAR) lists a song in its playlist a called IT'S SOMEBODY'S BIRTHDAY TODAY. The artist is Desparate Bicycles, and the album is "Remorse Code." Somehow I doubt that's the one you're looking for. Also, there's a children's song called SOMEBODY'S BIRTHDAY TODAY, written by Frances Dillon and Christopher Hedge, and recorded by Frances Dillon (known as "Francie") on an album called "Toy Box." CD Baby has a sound sample, but that doesn't sound like your song, either. |
Subject: RE: Info:Today Is Your Birth Day/1st Time on Earth Day From: Joe Offer Date: 13 Dec 06 - 03:43 AM Well, I know it's a corny song, but does anybody have information on it? |
Subject: Origins: Today Is Your Birth Day/1st Time on Earth From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Dec 06 - 01:51 AM This is not my kind of song, but somebody in choir asked me to inquire about it. She learned it a long times ago, in the 1940's or 1950's. Anybody know more about, know where it might be in a songbook, or where I can find a tune to transcribe? thanks. -Joe-
Your first time on earth day! Time to be happy and gay! So let's drink a toast to our most kindly host! It's somebody's birthday today! |
