Subject: BIG BARROW CHRISTMAS SESSIONS!
From: Bloke in the Corner
Date: 13 Dec 06 - 03:50 PM

Announcing a brace of BIG BARROW SESSIONS over the Christmas festivities. The first will be the Tuesday session next week, 19th December - looking forward to seeing some north bankers there, it being the start of the holidays and all - but then last night we decided we DID want a session on Boxing day, to get rid of the turkeys and mince pies, plus relatives etc.So, here on the electric Internet, is an open invitation to anyone within an hour or so of the Humber Bridge to come to the Six Bells in Barrow-upon-Humber on the 19th and/or the 26th December for what promises to be a couple of excellent hoolies.
The pub has good beer, the sessions are completely anarchic, no leaders, no cliques, a warm welcome guaranteed, all genres of acoustic music acceptable, mostly we play Irish, Scottish and English tunes. And there will be some songs, particularly from Karen and Colin Thompson! If you need directions just ask on this thread!
Looking forward to it already!
Lawrie

Great idea, may just fit the 26th in my diary as there's bound to be football on the TV to keep my other half busy!
Hi To Karen and Colin, haven't seen them North of the Humber in years.

Most excellent, it has been too many weeks since the young flautists graced the hallowed halls of the Six Bells. But don't you want to bring a north bank posse too, Janet? If not, then look forward to a Boxing Day bash.

Well, it's clear here Mr Whistler, no fog, but of course yours is a long road from that Lincoln. But we look forward very much to seeing when good King Wenceslas looked out....

Following the excellent session last Tuesday, be aware all regional players that Boxing Day is ON at the Six Bells in Barrow on Humber, and looks to be another good one. Kit is home, complete with box, and looks forward to seeing you all.
A very happy Christmas Day to all friends and fellow musicians, let's make the last session of 2006 a really fine one.

Yes, you're mixing up the pubs, miss lou. The Six Bells in Barrow on Humber is run by a Dutch guy called Vince - no wife in view. The landlord at the Black Boy on Monday was indeed not the usual one, generally it's run by a very nice young couple. In fact, Monday was the first night in a year when they didn't provide us with pizza and chips! And we have been running excellent sessions there for over two years. So be positive! Come to Barrow or the Black Boy and enjoy the music. Long may they both flourish!
And what a pleasure to see you north bank, Daithi!
