Subject: RE: seven drunken nights+whiskey in the jar From: leprechaun Date: 17 Mar 99 - 11:56 AM The way to the pot of gold is the box in your upper right-hand corner. If you're typing in more than one word, put the phrase in brackets. You may have to try alternative words or spellings (or a *wildcard search). I don't think you'll find fuller instructions for searching on the database on this discussion page, only on the main Mudcat Cafe page. Also, these songs have been discussed in previous threads which you can find in the archives by a forum search (see top of the page)- but first step is to find your lyrics in the DT database. |

Subject: RE: LYR REQ Seven Drunken Nights From: MMario Date: 12 Apr 99 - 04:02 PM De Nada; whoever-you-are-did-you-know-your-from-box-is-blank? Actually, I was interested to find the references in your post. I can do fast searches, but don't have the depth of knowledge or references that a lot of 'Catters have. MMario |
Subject: RE: LYR REQ Seven Drunken Nights From: Date: 12 Apr 99 - 04:49 PM For Child ballads (only) you can search DT by the actual number preceeded by the number sign (#) with no space between, e.g., #nnn. For items referenced in Laws' two books just use the letter and number (without number sign or space) like P25. All else requires a more elaborate search, which can be messy if the song is known by more than 1 title. If in Child or Laws, citing as above avoids problems of different or misspelled titles. |
