See also Beverley Sessions thread.

The Irish pub in Burg square Bruge is welcoming a session on Sunday 21st January, daytime.
The ferry leaving on Saturday 20th January and coming back Sunday 21st January to arrive Monday 22nd about 8am can be booked on 08705 202020 or online, and the cheapest price at the moment is £48 for two people (that's £24 each) for a two berth inside cabin with en-suite, including coach transfers Zeebruge-Bruge, excluding food. And you need quote the Sun special offer to get that price.
The price seems to go up and down and there are different special offers that come up in some newspapers (Sun, News of the world, etc)

All kinds of music and singers welcome. It could be a great session if enough people are there.

But don't bother trying to busk there - quickest way to empty the main square.

Is there a a comparable deal from Rosyth?

Irish music is not really my thing but maybe somebody going knows Scottish, English or bluegrass?

AND for those of you who have never been to Bruges, (yes, it has an "S") you have a wonderful surprise ahead of you - it is a most romantic town, and certainly worth having a wander around.

I'm only sorry I cannot afford to go with you lot !!!

Jo-Jo

Eurostar do a day trip by train to Bruges from London. There is a special day return price.
There are also day trips done by coach companies but don't know individual details.
The ferry from Harwich only seems to go to the Hook of Holand but there might be a coach or train from there.

Rang P and O today to check availability of special offer places and they still have £48 for two people inside cabin with en-suite if you ask for the sun newspaper special offer price (thats £24 each). its £53 for an outside cabin (window) sun special offer price.

That includes coach transfers from the port to Bruges but doesn't include any food. Car parking at the Zeebruges ferry terminal is free. You usualy have the same cabin both ways so you can leave things in the cabin and only take with you what you want for the day.

We have our old English Narrowboat "Elizabeth" moored in the Coupour Wharf for the winter but are not due to visit her until 2nd week Feb, but can highley recommend the pub, great atmosphere, good food and lethal Belgian Beer or expensive Guinness!

There are coach day trips to Bruges but they tend to stop at every hypermarket/booze factory/chocolate factory along the way, so you only get a couple of hours in Bruges if you're lucky!

Hope it's a great session. Now if they hold another one that coincides with the start of the Tour of Flanders......

On a business trip to Rotterdam with Greg, We played in the Irish Bar on the Pride of Hull. We left our instruments in the bar while we went to check out the Showbar. We were then accosted by a security official, who asked if the instrument cases were ours. He then told us that next time, such unaccompanied baggage would be thrown overboard!

Have fun!

Richard.
