Happy Boxing Day to all.
I was going to ask all you knowledgable people about wren hunting songs, but I did a search instead and found this. I didn't know it was by Les Barker .
At Bedworth last year 2 versions were sung, neither was the origional.

So glad to see this thread title. It seems as if the title "St Stephens Day" has left the mouths of the Irish people. I grew up knowing it by that title and sadly it has become Boxing Day to many here.

When I worked in hospitals over the Christmas period we always called Christmas night "Boxing Day" because the accident and emergency department was like a repair shop !

Irish families and drink around a dinner table was sure to kick off and all the old grudges were recalled. Do I miss this ? NO.

Greetings:

I was never a big fan of Saint Stephen, even though we share a name. I'm sorry he got killed by a mob, but please remember that he was the one who started preaching that the Jewish people as a whole were responsible for killing Jesus. We all know where that led!

--- Steve

The English call it Boxing Day, but at the Irish Centre in Chorlton (Manchester) where we go Set Dancing, it's definitely called St. Steven's Day.
