Subject: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 01 Jan 07 - 12:01 PM A shameless plug, but it is in a good cause. Wild Wolds Women and Helian Keys and friends are having a charity gig to raise money for the Breast Cancer Appeal. It is on Friday 19th January. An informal 'do'...the two previous events were sell-out nights and all who went, seemed to enjoy them. Will be at the Caistor Sports and Social club, in Caistor, (between Lincoln and Grimsby on the A46 in Lincolnshire, England!).8pm-12:30. We provide the Bar (it is usually pretty reasonable prices, I think) the music and candlelight. You just need to bring yourselves, and hopefully a friend or two. You can bring your own food, if you want and some even order take aways. All we ask is that you come ready to have a good time (and take away your food rubbish if possible!!!) Thanks for bothering to read this. It would be lovely to see one, or two mudcatters there! Tickets are £4 and you can find out more info if you PM me. Or check out our myspace sites on the next posting for this, for info about the bands. (Sorry, they are fairly new so not much music on them, yet! |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Georgiansilver Date: 01 Jan 07 - 01:51 PM Sad to say you have picked Gainsborough Folk Club night so will not be coming but all the best Helen and will give a donation when I see you next. (Please remind me unashamedly of this promise should I forget) Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 01 Jan 07 - 03:37 PM Yes, I am really sorry, Mike and all at Gainsborough. I do think it is great the way both Faldingworth and Gainsborough try to avoid clashes and support each other. When we arrange this gig, we always have this problem with choosing nights and we can only get the venue, which we like, on Friday nights. I did know that it would clash with your club and intended sending apologies but you beat me to it, by noticing. It was a choice between clashing with Faldingworth and Gainsborough and as Gainsborough is furthest away, we figure it will hopefully affect less people. Thanks for the offer of a donation and don't worry, I will remind you, lol! Sorry again re Gainsborough Club night :-( OK Villan, just checking dates and will get back to you!!! |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 02 Jan 07 - 02:10 PM PS The gig will be non-smoking, sorry to those smokers who want to attend, who will probably find that a pain. It was difficult to decide, but as we will be singing a lot during the night, after discussion, we went for what was most comfortable for ourselves. |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rasener Date: 02 Jan 07 - 02:37 PM Makes good sense Rockhen and I am the first to applaude your decision. It shouldn't be a difficult decision especially with the new laws coming in, and everybody still trying to abide by their New Years resolutions. :-) |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Tim theTwangler Date: 03 Jan 07 - 02:49 PM Good luck with the Charity gig mate. ANd a big thank you for letting us Twanglers cover a couple of your great songs at our gig today. We had agreat time doing Baby tonight and Walk my Life and they went down a storm. These afternoon gigs are great fun every one likes a drink at dinner but no one is going all out for oblivion leads to a merry and satisfying amount of audience participation. If can get to the Charity show will be there. Errrr does it say adult only on the flyers? Oh well I gues you have to go to find out. But I must say it is a bit of a shock when you think you know people to see what they will get up to for charity All best Twanglers |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Sttaw Legend Date: 03 Jan 07 - 04:14 PM Excellent Rockhen hope all goes well on the night and I am sure it will. Good luck |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 03 Jan 07 - 06:15 PM We have been pleased with the response so far for the gig. We've had a few raffle prizes promised, quite a few have booked tickets already and one very generous soul has promised Helian Keys £100 to sing a favourite song which means we make a decent profit for the charity even before anyone comes along. 'Bum' on seats is the most important factor in making it a success, though, so, at only £4 it ain't bad value for what should be a nice evening. Thanks folks.PM me if you want seats booking, please :-) |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Tim theTwangler Date: 05 Jan 07 - 12:09 AM Hey is this the same event as the candlelit indoor picnic? We went to one of those and it was really good fun. If it is half as good as te NEw years eve do at the same venue it will be fantastic! |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 05 Jan 07 - 06:43 AM "PS The gig will be non-smoking, sorry to those smokers who want to attend, who will probably find that a pain" Helen - never apologise for preventing selfish people from poisoning others. |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 06 Jan 07 - 11:44 AM Just had more offers of donations from a couple of people. Thank you everyone. Don't forget, if you want to reserve seats, please pm me. Thanks to all those who have sent messages of encouragement, too. I hate asking for money for charity but everyone has put up with me hassling them without moaning...well at least they haven't moaned to my face anyway! Cheers and hope to see some mudcatters there on the night, please come and say hello if you do! :-) |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rasener Date: 06 Jan 07 - 03:40 PM >>I hate asking for money for charity << I wouldn't worry about that. Its for a good cause and you can at least say that you gave it your best shot. So just get on with it and get as much as possible without feeling embarassed. |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 09 Jan 07 - 12:14 PM "Wild Wolds Women and Helian Keys and friends" Are the 'friends' anyone specific? If not, will any 'friends' who turn up with a guitar in the boot be likely to asked to do a couple? Not thinking of anyone in particular, of course..............! :-) |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 09 Jan 07 - 07:38 PM Hi 'Strollin'...'friends' will just be a certain drummer who has close links with the band, (!)for this year's charity bash and we have already sorted the sets out for the night with it being very near. As you know, I love to hear you sing and play, Rosemary's Sister being one of my favourite songs, you do, so had it been otherwise, you would have been very welcome. It would be lovely to see you there anyway but I appreciate that we clash with Gainsborough's night and I know a lot of the G. regulars won't want to miss going there. (Sorry again for the clash, folks!)Too many places offering live music on the same night! Shame! Just sold another 7 tickets for the gig, so sales going very well. Also been given two more raffle prizes. Thanks Tequila and Mooey for that! |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 10 Jan 07 - 03:15 AM No problem me duck! Thought that would be the case, but us old stage-struck fakers are always on the lookout for an excuse to bore people to tears with a coupla wrist-slitters! All the best, JB |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Georgiansilver Date: 10 Jan 07 - 05:10 AM stage-struck fakers.....wouldn't like to be saying that under the affluence of incahol. |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 10 Jan 07 - 07:11 AM No chance of me doing it! |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 10 Jan 07 - 08:21 AM Ahhhh the wrist-slitting songs are always the best! I love'em! |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Georgiansilver Date: 10 Jan 07 - 08:29 AM Some sort of latent suicidal tendency there Helen? I guess the majority of Folk songs we hear these days are wrist slitters....the trad songs that is as well as some of the more modern ones. |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 10 Jan 07 - 07:24 PM It is easier to write a sad song than a happy one, I think! All the best tunes are sad ones...oh I do love a good cry! lol! |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Tim theTwangler Date: 11 Jan 07 - 07:13 PM And is there such a thing as a bad cry? |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 12 Jan 07 - 08:32 PM Yep...I'm not keen on those, Tim. Thanks Georgiansilver...you are a man of your word re your earlier post. Sorry you can't make the gig but, your donation is very much appreciated, ta. Was it you doing the 'interesting' joining in on the famous aardvark song, tonight, btw? We got the giggles over t'other side! |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Tim theTwangler Date: 13 Jan 07 - 08:48 PM This is a topic that can effect any one of us so I hope every one will dig deep to support this evening of music and fun. |
Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Georgiansilver Date: 14 Jan 07 - 03:45 AM Yes Rockhen I have to admit to the loud and squeaky "Oh look there's an aardvaark" which is actually done to make Mike laugh...he can't help himself when I do it LOL. |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 14 Jan 07 - 08:00 AM Aaaagh a very scary, if brief interview on BBC Radio Lincs left my woffling and stumbling over my words this morning trying to plug this gig. We will have a cd on sale by Friday for the charity, now. I have written a song called 'Take My Hand' with the help of Ian from my other band, Helian Keys. I am recording it and should finish it today ready for copying in time for sale on Friday. In addition to Ian on vocals and myself on piano/backing vocals, it will also feature the Wild Wolds Women and others. It will be on sale at minimum donation of £1, at least 2/3 of which will go to the charity as everyone is playing/working for free. Please pm me for details. I hope to put copies in our local post office but will also post them with a small extra charge for postage. I will put a separate thread up for it, too once it is all finished. Thanks, folks! |

Subject: RE: Wild Wolds Women/Helian Keys Charity Gig From: Rockhen Date: 15 Jan 07 - 12:58 PM Helian Keys Charity CD (for the Breast Cancer Research Appeal, )almost ready ...just printing covers. Watch this space. It is for a good cause and most of the money will be direct profit for the charity. Thanks to Ian for fantastic vocals and helping write it and the Wild Wolds Women and Tequila Sunrise for their wonderful contributions. I am so pleased with the cd, I am going to ask the charity if they want to use it...anyone know good contacts for this? Guess I need to approach them directly. Thanks to all those who have followed this post and the generous donations we have received already from several mudcatters. |
