For the benefit of anyone who hasn't been to one of these sessions before, I can assure you that it'll be good. Friendly, supportive landlords; an excellent musical host (John Barden); a fine range of well-kept beers at reasonable prices; a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and a lot of good music.


(WARNING: PLUG ALERT!!!!!)

I shall be there for a while before going round the corner (well, 500 yds. or so) to the Carpenter's Arms, where I'll be playing with Jumbo Gumbo from 4 to 6. So if you've sung yourselves hoarse at the Good Intent and feel like listening to some zydeco before you fall over, come along!

I enjoyed John Barden when I heard him at Dave Bryant's 'do' and I really recommend him to anyone in the area.

I want to say a big thank you to all the people who turned up and made it such a great afternoon and early evening. Some great singing and playing. We finished at just about 8pm so - didn't we do well!! It's so good to have such welcoming landlords and my thanks go to them too. Don't forget that 'The Good Intent' has folk sessions on the first and third tuesdays of the month.

Thanks for organising this John, we really enjoyed it. Lovely to have some decent beer on tap for Richard's birthday (that's Atkins, not Bridge) though he got away without having the bumps or being sung at!!

I hope they will do this about every 3 to 4 months, which will make the next one around Rochester Sweeps Festival which I expect will take priority. They do have lots of different beers during that.
