The Last Will and Testament of Jake Thackray (the song by him) has similar sentiments, i.e. don't be sad when I'm gone, have a good knees-up at the wake, etc. Just thought I'd mention it as it may be of interest to others looking for such songs.

Allmusic.com lists several songs with similar titles. You might try listening to sound samples there until you hear one that sounds familiar:

EUREKA. I changed the line from "Sing no sad songs for me" to "sing me no sad song". IS THIS IT?

thanks micca...lovely song and I'm sure rod would have loved it...but as you guessed it's not the one I'm looking for...though i have printed it out....
there must be someone who has heard the other one
I think the next line is something like.....
sing me a song with a long refrain
if they don't get it right they'll have to sing it again..
