Give it time.

Some would judge Billy Bragg to be a singer.

Some would now judge Billy Bragg to be a folk singer.

Unless industrial goth, became the new word for folk - then I seriously doubt it.

Grits ain't groceries, eggs ain't poultry, and Mona Lisa was a man...

or

Oh Marilyn Manson, where art thou?

or

Oh Brother, where art Marilyn Manson?

Peace, Mooh.

There was an interview with Marilyn Manson's guitarist in Guitar Player magazine a few years back. He said he only plays the goth stuff with Manson as a mealticket. His personal preference is bluegrass flatpicking a la Doc Watson, Tony Rice etc. There may yet be hope. Marilyn Manson belting out "Little Sadie"?

Sorry for the empty post...new computer works better than the operator!

BWL...Think I've read the same, Guitar Player Magazine likely, seems to happen to lots of players who take "other" gigs for a variety of reasons.

Peace, Mooh.

"Exuvies 1998 Holy Records

The follow-up to Hantoama, Exuvies is one strange, wonderful album. I expected more experimentation and general weirdness, but not quite to the degree present on this album. The Pyrenees folk music is still there, but now there's also a whole assortment of other influences, namely progressive rock, death metal, industrial, electronic music, noise and ambient. Rock percussion and bass lines now form the back bone of the music, and there's a prominent spot for the electric guitar and sampling as well. Exuvies is a beautiful experience, a marriage of the rural with the urban, the ancient with the modern, and the subtle with the over-the-top. Serenity and edginess collide."

I know that if he made an album of traditional songs, I'd buy it. I think he should on principle, in fact. If he took the Billy Bragg route, I think his work would improve (I'm familiar with a few of his albums, and the last one I heard was a sharp decline from ACS and "Mechanical Animals," which are both pretty good).

Odd, but, I like the guy. Not some of his music, but some of his music. But, I like the guy. Saw him on Jay Leno'sw talk show and he was very well spoken and intelligent and humourous. He has talent.

And spooky eyes.

My husband is from the mid west and has lots of mid western relatives (duh!!!). One of his cousins is from Canton Oh and he came to visit us -- my kids friends thought he was awesome because he went to the same High School Marilyn Manson went to.

Remember in Bowling for Columbine, Marilyn Manson was asked what he would have said to the two young men if he had had the chance -- he said something on the lines of - I wouldn't say a word, I would just listen. He's ok.

Nope. Gimme Bob Fox any time.
He can play, he can sing, he can hold warm and friendly conversations, he doesn't use shock-tactics to attract an audience. And he's a normal sort of guy.
I'm comin' up sixty, I have the cool-ness bestowed by age and experience, and I don't need to feign interest in way-out artists to prove I'm cool. LOL!
